16" Document Holder

Ordered this alongside the 14" vertical laptop sleeve. Same quality of leather and stitching throughout.

The closure is the reason to buy it. The sleeve is open-topped, fine for a laptop but not for carrying sensitive documents around. The butterfly strap solves that, and it holds letter-size paper and file folders comfortably with the long edge horizontal.

The gift message on leather is a genuinely lovely touch.

This is the nicest document holder I've ever seen. The stitching, quality of leather, attention to detail, etc. all combine to make this a ridiculously nice document holder. It is worth every penny!

I love this sleeve! It fits the 16” MacBook Pro very well and it has the great Saddleback build quality! My only gripe is that it wasn’t available in Black, so it doesn’t match with my Saddleback Pilot’s briefcase ?

I don't know why, but I was stunned by the quality of the sleeve. I have one of their briefcases, so I shouldn't have been surprised at the suppleness and attention to detail in the construction. Yet there I was, gobsmacked at just how exquisite it looked and felt. And it held my laptop perfectly, while also providing a seamless aesthetic match to my tobacco-colored briefcase. I will absolutely be buying more leather products to accompany my growing collection!

I just purchased the document holder, bear trap pen case, and bear trap coin case. All are great products.

I use this for my 12.9 inch iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. It goes in smoothly and won’t just fall out. The closure is quick and keeps the flap closed without need to buckle / unbuckle which is convenient. Since I use my iPad for client meetings and notetaking it gets a lot of exposure. Everyone comments on it, my laptop sleeve, and my Saddleback bag.

Just wish that I could get my 14 inch MacBook Pro to fit … or if they made one that was just a tiny bit bigger … hint hint.

I was looking for something for my 12.9 Ipad Pro and Magic keyboard to travel. I saw this and it looked exactly what I wanted. I received the item and it fits like it was made for it. PERFECT!

This document holder is simple, solid and nice. Like all all other Saddleback designs, it will last a very long time. I will not have to worry about this piece wearing out like other folders made of paper and it will age with grace and beauty. The pig skin interior is nice and helps reduce and eliminate resistance as you slide your important documents in and out.

Beautifully made and seems hard-wearing. Bargain, may also be used as a stylish clutch bag

I bought this document holder with the intention of mostly using it to house my MacBook Air (M1, 2020) and it fits perfectly, albeit a little snug. I'm sure as the leather breaks in it'll be a little less snug, but I'm not concerned. It should be said that this also fits my 11" iPad Air with the Magic Keyboard on it perfectly. If you have an older MacBook, there's a good chance it will not fit, but I can't say for certain.

I got this in Chestnut, which is by far my favorite SBL color. I can't wait for it to age and develop character over the years.

Don't ever talk yourself into buying another brand, because you'll definitely regret it. SBL is 100% the way to go.

This thing is simple, beautiful, and exactly what I hoped it would be. I was looking for something classy that I could use to keep a few notebooks organized when I have to run out of the office for a meeting, or if I need to work do some work on the go. Currently it holds a legal pad, a marble notebook, a moleskin journal and the saddleback receipt pouch that I carry pens in. I can also squeeze my wallet and phone in there. The leather needed to stretch a little to allow for all that, but it still looks sleek and professional with everything in there. I own several saddleback pieces that I love, but this one has quickly become my favorite. Great design.

This is the perfect document holder. it will last forever and I feel its one of the best values on the SB site. Pricey but worth it. I mean common, A document holder lined with Pigskin! Find me one of those elsewhere.. ill wait.

Have one in chestnut and brown. Not my first SBL product not last either. One I use to keep my documents in, the other my son took from me and uses it to carry his MacBook Air 13.

Fits it perfectly. I wish it would also fit my 14” Lenovo Yoga, with extra touch screen. But thinking, the large portfolio will accommodate that.

I purchased this to accompany the thirteener briefcase. Both purchases were outstanding. The leather document holder is incredibly sturdy and holds files beautifully. Highly recommend this!

I bought this document holder hoping that it would fit the iPad Pro 12.9, and it does fit! You can even fit the Apple Pencil in the case. Keep in mind, if your iPad Pro has a cover on it, the additional bulk may make for a tight fit.



The tobacco leather is velvety soft, and the pigskin lining is soft as well. Very well made. Nice work, Saddleback!

I am the proud owner (and gift giver) of many Saddleback Leather products through the years. This item caught my attention as a means to organize and transport papers and documents I am currently working on. I purchased the Tobacco Document Holder. It’s perfect for carrying important papers/documents. Nice leather lined inside. Not much to it, just a nice leather document holder. I own various Saddlebackleather products (backpacks, wallets, valets, pouches, etc. ) in all colors. For this and other smaller items, the Tobacco color is ideal.

I always buy my products from Saddleback. If you're thinking about it and just not sure because of money, save up and then buy it. You won't regret it. I bought this for my new and shiny iPad Air 4 w/ Apple Pencil 2n generation. It works great, I don't have to worry about a case, it keeps my pencil with my iPad and it all fits into my Thirteener Bag. There is also still room for other things, you could fit another book if you needed to. Great product. Customer for life.

I’m a sucker for the smell of good leather. The quality of this product is high and well made. This is one of a handful of products I have recently purchased and am satisfied with every single one.

The only thing I would change is the placement of the logo on the flap. I would have like to have seen it on the part that the flap covers or under the flap.

It took a month to arrive and the shipping cost was a little high, other than that the product is good, it’s beautiful and has some scars or scratches which I don’t mind.

I own a SBL XL classic briefcase I've had since 2007. It was made in 2004. I recently bought a Saddleback Simple Backpack - both of those are in Chestnut - like this document holder I got along with the small notepad holder.

I can EASILY fit a few client files in this - and it's new and tight. I can fit a green hanging file (my client files are in these) with a couple manila folders and client statements and notes...and have a nice package to take in and see a client without bringing the briefcase or backpack in.

It is currently filled with an extra thick yellow pad to stretch it out some...and used for whatever is needed each day too. In the Simple Backpack it's a perfect fit along the back wall of the pack...and in the XL briefcase, it disappears, of course.

I can't wait for my newer items to start showing their age! My XL Briefcase has been around the world and never seems to fail to get noticed. All my items are in Chestnut - I feel it's the best color for me. Chestnut goes from boardrooms during the week to my old, lifted, well worn Jeep Wrangler on the weekends. I've never been upset over the costs of these products, they are made very well and wear like iron.

I can’t say enough about the function and look of the document holder but I would do Saddleback an injustice if I didn’t share my experience. When it arrived my fabulous postal worker left it on my pouch for my lab to open and enjoy before me! Whe I arrived home I was sick to see the damage, but after a cleaning and conditioning it has amazed me how a quality product can handle a large dog. Thank you saddleback for building a great product that truly can handle what life throws at it!
