So this is my first SL Mountainback design and boy did I pick a good one. The combination of the DCB tumbled leather and the moss green waxed canvas match perfectly and are beautiful and rugged. Dave and Suzette put a lot of thought into their designs and it it evident in this piece. The closures are unique, simple and work and all the wear spots are reinforced with leather. I use the messenger bag to carry my work laptop, SL mouse pad, mouse, power cord and my medium SL portfolio. All fit comfortably.
This is a beautifully designed and very durable messenger bag. I love how it looks, and it is not heavy compared to my Saddleback leather briefcases. Therefore, it has become my favorite EDC bag. My only criticism is about the front pockets. The issue is that the bayonets become too short to secure when I put things that make front pockets just a little distended. I think they could be designed slightly longer to allow more space to be used in the front pockets. Otherwise, again, this is a fantastic EDC bag built with high quality.
Durable, timeless, practical, can dress up or down, handy, comfy(good pillow in a pinch), plenty of space. Leather wears in beautifully, straps are mules, the handle are a beast. I bought mine in 2017 before all the big changes. Honestly, I would not have changed a darn thing. But, this bag is perfect. Want a lifelong article that will never let you down—this is your bag. I own and love the Indiana Canvas Satchel and decided to purchase the Front Pocket Bag for the larger size and additional front pockets. Unfortunately, the design of the front pocket bayonet closures only allows for the pocket to be secured at the last rung of the flap even when the pocket is empty. As a result the front pockets cannot hold very much which is disappointing.
Another quality product. Lighter weight then my leather bags and when the weather isn't as good, the wax canvas that is accented with beautiful leather and protects all your gear from any weather. Thoughtful construction with no weak spots to tear or fray. Must have
