Design of the Thin Leather Briefcase

This thin leather briefcase is over-engineered with no breakable parts like magnets, zippers, velcro, snaps, buttons, etc., and is reinforced at all stress points with rivets and hidden polyester strapping. Leather stretches, but these straps do not. It's built with the largest pieces of leather possible, so there are fewer seams, and we sew at only five stitches per inch, so there's more leather between the needle holes and fewer holes to start a tear. This leather briefcase converts into a small laptop backpack when you attach the shoulder strap to the back d-rings and pass it through the O-ring on the back. The front pockets also have hidden pockets behind them. It has a false bottom for hiding cash and passports. D-rings on the bottom of the bag for strapping on tripods, jackets, and blankets.

Materials Used in this Thin Leather Briefcase

Our leather is the strongest we can find (full-grain leather). It still has all of the grain on it. We line the leather briefcase with pigskin for even more strength. The thread is unbelievably strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread, and our custom hardware is 316 Stainless Steel. It's the metal of choice when your life depends on it. We consider every single detail when making a leather bag guaranteed to last 100 years.

Made with the Best Full Grain Leather

Our Thin Front Pocket Briefcase is made out of the toughest, full-grain leather. This is the top layer of the hide and has all of the grain, making it tougher and more water-resistant. Most companies will use a cheaper, thinner leather that is easy to process and falls apart in a few years. For our designs, we only use the highest quality materials because we stand behind each one of them.

The Perfect Size Thin Leather Briefcase for a 15" or 16" Laptop

This slim leather briefcase is big enough to hold everything you need but not too big or bulky. The dimensions of this briefcase are 15? x 11" and only 3 1/2" thick, so it fits up to 16" laptops. This makes it only weigh 5 lbs; it is like nothing when you wear this on your back or shoulder. We do make larger bags, but not everyone is trying to carry a 17" laptop along with a gaming chair in their briefcase. But we do take into account those that need to take a 17" laptop, and we have a larger leather laptop bag for those.

The Perfect Amount of Pockets

These thin leather briefcases have a main compartment that is the perfect size for a 15" or 16" laptop and a notebook, along with a charger and charging cables. It also has two inside pockets for pens and pencils. On the front there are two pockets that buckle closed, keeping things like your wallet or phone safe in transport. Behind those pockets are two more pockets that make it easy access to place your cell phone or even a power hub. This is a great bag to carry your essential belongings to a meeting or to float down a river in Africa.

Back Magazine Pocket

Yes, we even put a back magazine pocket in this briefcase. You know, when you are on that long flight and just want to unwind with some Field and Stream, or maybe you want to catch up on the latest National Geographic. Now you have a place to put it.

Detachable Shoulder Strap

Not everyone likes a shoulder strap on their leather briefcase, and sometimes you just need a quality thick strap of full grain leather for other things. So in this thin leather briefcase, we made a detachable shoulder strap that is also adjustable. I can't tell you how many times I've used a bag strap to tie down luggage.

D-Rings on the Thin Front Pocket Briefcase

The bottom of the thin leather briefcase has four d-rings that can be used to hold anything from your umbrella to a rolled blanket or tent and use it like a knapsack. Think outside the office, away from business; it is more than an elegant way to carry your laptop or notebook. You can look professional or casual with this rugged leather briefcase. It is a great bag to have on your back when you go hiking, fishing, traveling, or into the office.

A Key Strap

A leather key strap inside the main compartment holds your keys, so you don't have to search for them at the bottom of your bag. No more fumbling around for your keys!

The Different Colors of this Thin Leather Briefcase

The natural color of Tobacco (tan, light brown) might be the most common. It has a casual look but develops a beautiful patina over time. Some people prefer a different style, so for those, we also offer this leather in Dark Coffee Brown and Chestnut (reddish brown).

What makes the Saddleback Thin Leather Briefcase Worth it

We care about much more than making money. Sure, that is required to keep a company running, but we care more about making quality leather goods. This is the reason we use only the highest quality materials, and the most durable construction methods possible. Making a difference is our goal in every life that we touch with our designs, so we take it seriously when we say that we will warranty your leather bag for 100 years.

The best briefcase I've ever owned.

I bought my bag off a seller on eBay. Other than some minor surface abrasions, my bag was barely used. Just the right amount of room for my day-to-day stuff and my laptop. You can just feeeeel the quality in this bag, the leather the buckles and the shoulder strap. Everything is just the best it can be. Buy quality. Buy SBL. You'll never be disappointed.

    Hope for Humanity

I have been a fan of Saddleback Leather for some time. I purchased a wallet circa 2009 or 2010, and a couple of belts more recently. The quality and durability of the products is as impressive as promised. I have admired the Saddleback briefcases through the screen of my computer since first purchasing my wallet over a decade ago, but never invested in one myself. I’m now entering my third year in my career at a litigator, and my secretary has been hinting that I’m getting too old to be wearing my law school backpack to court. My birthday was in May, and, as a single, adult man, I was burdened with providing myself with a gift. I decided to finally purchase the Thin Front Pocket Leather Briefcase (Color: Chestnut). I wish that I had made the purchase sooner. The Briefcase is lovely, comfortable, and obviously of high quality. So much so that now, upon entering a courtroom, the judge, opposing counsel, and all parties present can’t help but notice the Briefcase, and be duly impressed. I’ve experienced a barely perceptible (most likely subconscious) shift in demeanor, indicating openness and deference to the arguments made by someone (me) who carries such an authoritative Briefcase. I no longer fear the pending apocalypse of white-collar work on account of Artificial Intelligence. An AI could never carry such a Briefcase, because it does not have hands. I therefore remain confident that my clients will continue to trust me and pay for my counsel, at least until the 100-year warranty on my Briefcase is up.

    Unreal Quality

I bought this one to fit a custom wooden writing box that I made in the shop. It does not matter where I go....I invariably get comments from discerning observers on my Saddleback briefcase. Comments almost always involve an expression of envy and curiosity about where I got it. Look, there are any number of average goods that cost 4X what they should these days just because they look cool or seem "retro" but I feel as though I received every penny's worth of durability and value from my Saddleback leather goods (I own their pistol case as well and never go to the range without getting questions and comments.)

    Amazing Briefcase!

My family and friends bought this for me as a graduation gift. I use it every day for work, and I love it! I am always getting compliments on how nice it looks. It's expensive, but it's worth every penny! I'm definitely a customer for life!

    The Best of the Best

I am coming up on two years with this bag. It has traveled on well over 100 flights. The quality and reliability of this bag are unmatched. I receive compliments on the bag every trip. The most significant compliments I receive come from the TSA. I have been to so many airports where a TSA agent grabs the bag to move it onto the scan belt. They always say the same thing “this is such a thick, heavy, high quality bag….who makes it?” The reason these compliments mean so much is because the TSA has seen and touched more bags than anyone on the planet. For them to stop and compliment the bag speaks volumes about the build quality.
