Design of This Hard Sided Briefcase
The 16" Grandfather Briefcase was designed to resemble the old classic briefcases our grandfathers would have carried. Back in the old days, a man would buy a hardside briefcase and know it would last his entire life. Now you can have that same security with a hard sided briefcase that is just as strong and durable. This leather briefcase is like they used to make them, but better.
Grandfather Briefcase Materials
We used all the best materials we could find to make this the best hard sided leather briefcase. From the best leather you can get, full grain leather, to the really strong thread and lining, we spared no expense in making sure this briefcase will last a lifetime.
Full Grain Leather
We only use the toughest leather we can find on our leather bags, and this briefcase is no different. It's genuine full-grain leather, which means the top layer is still there. The top layer is the strongest layer on the hide and acts the same as shingles on a house.
Pigskin Lining in Our Large Leather Briefcase
The entire inside is lined with pigskin; believe it or not, pigskin is even stronger than cow skin. Plus, it's soft and smooth, so whatever you put inside of it will be protected.
Stitching in this Hardsided Briefcase
We take no shortcuts when it comes to sewing everything together on this leather briefcase. We sew using only 5 stitches per inch. Doing this reduces the number of holes in the leather and the potential for a tear.
Really Strong Thread
The thread we use is a really strong UV-resistant polyester. It's the same stuff they use to make parachutes and ship sails. If it can hold up to those conditions, we are confident it will hold this briefcase together for at least 100 years.
Hardware That Your Life Can Depend On
All of our hardware is custom surgical grade 316 stainless steel. It is what you want to use if your life depended on it. It's complete overkill for our leather bags, but it guarantees we will never have an issue with the hardware.
