This item should not be discontinued. Instead, everyone who understands what is cool and what is not should own one and gift one to another cool person. I love mine and introduce it as "do you want to see the coolest thing?" . If you own one of these you are indeed cool. Love this item.

Newest prized possession!
My brother was dying to have this set so I got him one as an early birthday gift. He couldn't stop smiling the whole time he was opening the gift. He loves the pieces and the fact that they come in three leather bags that fits perfectly inside when rolled up. He also absolutely loves the whole design all together. He kept saying he's going to be the coolest one in his chess club now because of this product. Thank you Dave for this design. It warmed my heart to see how much the set made him light up. I haven't seen him THIS happy in a while. Thank you again for allowing my brother and I to share such a moment together. It's his newest prized possession!

Awesome Chess Set
I have purchased two sets so my kids won't fight over them when I'm gone. LOL. The pieces were evidently different designs for each set and the craftsmanship was excellent on both. The board thickness is adequate to lay completely flat when playing. I wish they could make this set with the traditional black and white board and a black carrying strap. This set shows that everyone involved in the production takes pride in what they do. I had to contact the company by email and their customer service is excellent too. They are very meticulous even in the way they package it for shipping.

Just Amazing (as expected)
I have previously purchased a few Saddle Back products for myself, and have always been amazed at the value offered. When I saw this set offered I couldn't help but think of my nephew who is learning chess. After some thinking I purchased a set as one of the Christmas gifts for him. Initially all I did was open the box to remove the packing slip, and then just sealed and wrapped for him. Come Christmas day and he unwrapped the box, and was initially unsure of what was inside the tube. My mother was thinking a gun, and my brother's fiance a telescope. I helped my nephew open up and unwrap the pieces, and everyone was surprised. Once revealed as a chess set everyone was amazed at the quality and uniqueness of this gift. While waiting for the appetizer course (cooked by my brother) to be ready my nephew asked if anyone would play with him on the new set. I was volunteered, and happily complied to play a game despite not having played in over 20 years, and against a computer at that. I thought he was only 8, so how difficult could this be? Well after he easily beat me in less than 10 moves I had my answer. At the end of the day I was schooled by my nephew, but seeing his face light up as he realized that the board made up a bag to contain the pieces made it all worth it. In playing a few games and examining all the pieces quality is just what I have grown to expect. Thank you Dave and everyone else at Saddleback for helping to make a very memorable holiday for my family!
