Design of the Doctor's Bag
The mid-19th century Gladstone closure goes right along with our design philosophy of build it for life. This was at the time when zippers weren't a thing yet, and they needed to keep your leather travel bag closed. It doesn't need to be buckled, but you can. We call it the Doctor's Leather Duffle Bag, but it's not just a bag for a doctor. This leather duffle bag was over-engineered with no breakable parts like magnets, zippers, snaps, or buttons. All stress points are reinforced with rivets and hidden polyester straps. This Doctor's Bag fits in overhead bins of airplanes and is carry-on approved. Ideal for 2-3 days of travel.

Only the Finest Materials in our Leather Doctor's Bag
Our leather duffle bag is made of full-grain leather, and it's thick. Lower level companies sand off the grain (the toughest, most water-resistant part of the leather) to get rid of scars and marks so they can use the entire hide to make bags. We decided to just cut around the ugly parts and throw most of that leather away. And inside, we lined the leather overnight bag with pigskin, which is stronger than the cow skin. One of the coolest materials we use is our custom 316 Stainless Steel. It's a fun one to research up on. It can hold up to 750 lbs. If your life is depending on something, you're going to want it to depend on this metal. Our thick thread is very strong industrial, marine grade, and UV resistant polyester. It doesn't deteriorate when the sun hits it. I really wish more designers would use it. There's no other leather travel bag like it.

The Benefit of the Gladstone Closure
The best doctor's bag is typically a Gladstone bag with two handles and a hinged opening. That is what inspired us to do in designing this classic doctor bag. Gladstone bags were first used by Victorian-era politicians. Politician William Ewart Gladstone was known for his ability to pack a large number of items into his bags, so it made sense to use the Gladstone closure for a design like this.
