We only use the toughest leather we can get (thick full-grain leather), the highest grade of hide you can buy, to make all of our leather laptop bags. The grain is the toughest and most water-resistant part of the hide. So when companies sand or split off the top part of the hide to get rid of scars and blemishes so they can use up more of the hide, they're getting rid of the toughest part.
Yes, full-grain leather is the quarterback getting all of the attention. But the other materials we use is what the over-engineering thing is all about. We line our leather briefcases with pigskin, which is more durable than the full-grain leather. The hardware is the ridiculous 316 stainless steel (rated to hold up to 750 lbs). We sew everything together with a UV-resistant marine-grade polyester thread (it's the same exact threat that's used to sew together ship sails and parachutes... you know, things your life depends on).
This thin leather laptop bag is our smallest leather briefcase and is wide enough to fit any 14" MacBook Pro or laptop. The 2019 15" Macbook Pro fits in the main compartment but not inside the soft laptop sleeve pocket. Two interior flat front pockets to hold a charger, pens, cables, and papers. I get a ton of compliments on this bag. The quality is great, fits just enough and the color is unique. Buy it!
It's a great bag that fits my 13" laptop perfectly. I have other Saddleback products and despite being over 5 years old, they look practically new despite daily use. My only complaint is I wish the shoulder strap was a good 12" shorter - it's absolutely huge and the loops don't manage the excess length well. I'll have to pay extra to have it professionally shortened.
What can I say. If we were playing baseball, Dave and the team at Saddleback Leather would be the home run leaders! Beautiful bag, and the craftsmanship is truly second to none!
This is my third purchase, and the quality still astounds. It's practical, large enough to fit my MacBook Air plus a leather binder and other smaller items. These products are an investment in style, utility, and the inevitable stream of complements! Never disappoint with Saddleback products.
I love this bag. I almost got a bigger bag but I am very happy with my decision to go smaller. A laptop, an iPad, a book, a magazine, my Sig P365, they all fit easily in this bag. The color is great but it does have a bit of a suede feel to it, the grain is more porous and tends to accept stains more easily than the darker colors, so that is a consideration. I don't like the effect that the Chamberlain's leather milk has on this leather color, it turns it slightly orange. I almost didn't buy this color because I've seen some with orange shades that in my opinion aren't great, but I'm happy with my color. If there could be one improvement it would be to make this color have more brown and less orange.
