Read MoreAfter years of searching for the perfect Saddleback mug, Dave finally decided to just design one himself. The final product is a collaboration with the master potter Keith Thomson, owner of Firehouse Pottery just across town here in Fort Worth, TX. Keith makes each Saddleback mug by himself, by hand. There's about 20 or so discrete processes involved in the creation of each mug, from measuring out the right sized hunk of clay, to forming it on the pottery wheel, to final touch ups of each finished mug. They're made in small batches over a 2 week period. There are quicker and easier ways to make mugs, but Keith isn't interested in that. And neither is Dave. The result is a beautiful hand-crafted mug, each slightly unique. Because of the time-consuming and labor-intensive process, Keith just isn't able to make too many of these things.
I like the look and feel of the cup. I'm using it right now. The logo I believe should be on the left side of the cup, because I'm right handed and cannot see the logo when I'm drinking or set the cup down.

I own 3 of these mugs. I use them mostly on weekends for coffee or tea. They work great. Well designed. I own two of original dk brown and the tobacco one (I paid $40 each and thought that was too high but I indulged). I would honestly love to have one in black as pictured, but would NEVER pay $70 for a ceramic coffee mug. I own several pieces of saddleback leather (classic briefcase, water bag, side pocket duffle, belts, mousepads, organizer bags, valet tray, bear trap pen case, portfolio, ect) all expensive and worth their price with the product value. I support this company, their beliefs, and Dave and Suzette but this mug is not worth $70. I feel bad writing this and maybe the $70 is a mistake on the website.

I cracked the first mug from Saddleback. Very sad day. This was my go to coffee cup. I ordered the new colored mug and it fits my hand perfectly. I like everything about it.

Waited like two years to get this, thankful to have it back in stock. Best feature is the handle. A lot of room to fit three fingers, with your pinky finger resting on the bottom outer edge. Only nitpicky thing, is I wish the logo was on both sides so I could see it as I'm holding the mug with my right hand.
