    Good but not great

There are a lot of things I like about this backpack, but there are things that I wish were different. Much of what I would have liked to see is now on the new All In One backpack - if they would just add a buckle flap over the top of the AIO, it would be a home run. As always, the chestnut color is gorgeous. 90% of what I own is chestnut. This backpack is very roomy, slouchy, and lightweight. It's very comfortable to carry. I use it for work (packed with files, Circa notebooks, and a Surface Pro), and for day trips (packed with my DSLR camera, lenses, and some snacks, plus a light jacket and sometimes spare shoes). I've also used it for a quick overnight trip. I am not a fan of all the tassels on the zipper - will likely remove some of them. They don't serve much of a purpose - I can grip the zipper just fine without them. I would have liked more external pockets - on the front, on the back (against my back), or both. Something for quick, easy access to things like my kindle and my keys, which don't fit in the slip pockets on the sides (behind the buckle pockets). Inside slip pockets on the sides would be a nice addition, too. I like having easy organization/access to things I use frequently. The existing side pockets are pretty useless for my needs. I prefer the slip pockets on the new AIO, for things like an umbrella and a water bottle. The free-hanging inside zipper pocket inside gets in the way when I'm putting things in or taking them out. It's a nice idea, but would have been better executed if the bottom had been attached inside the bag. I bought my boyfriend his own, after he appropriated mine on a recent day trip. His is the dusty carbon. He doesn't have the same complaints I have - he likes it just fine. Photo is him wearing mine, so you can see how well it works for a guy. (I'm slightly smaller than he is - 5'8" vs 6'.) Having a double zipper would also be an improvement. Having a tad bit more stiffness would also be nice. While I don't want it to be as rigid as some of the others (like the city or the tank), just a bit more structure would be good. And this lacks the key strap inside - this is something I never knew I needed before discovering SB/L41 products, and now when it's not there, I find myself frustrated because my keys fall to the bottom and I don't want to root around to locate them. Overall, it's a solid backpack. I just don't like it as much as I had hoped I would. I'll be saving up for the new AIO, and hoping in the meantime that they add the over-flap to make it the perfect backpack for me.

The last thing I needed was another backpack...

But with the old version on Steals at discount I couldn't resist. All these years I didn't think I needed anything as similar in size to my SBL medium simple backpack (now discontinued), and that bag was my EDC for more than 5 years. But the Wanderer's is almost half the weight. And just a really pretty, practical design, so I bought one in chestnut. I already love how soft and light it is, and I can't wait to take it to Hawaii for two weeks in the autumn. So thanks for another great bag, Suzette!
