Cedar. Pine. Grandma's cookies. Puppy breath. All wonderful but none of them smell as wonderful as this bag! I once looked at a car and the interior was "Leatherette" which is a version of Naugahyde. This bag is the exact opposite of that ... nothing fake about this construction. The stitching is tight, the leather is thick and, yet, supple. Rivets are boss and the styling is on point in every way. This satchel will never wear out, but this isn't my last Saddleback Bag. Side note: I bought this as a Dave's Deal and scratches were minimal. Also, the only two possible changes I would make is that I wish satchel was just a tad wider. My 13" MacBook Air fits in the main compartment but not the computer sleeve area. Also, I'm a 5'1" female & there's a lot of extra leather when I adjust the strap for my height, and there's not a strap keeper low enough to secure the extra leather below the buckle.
When I descend the stairs for my morning commute from the bedroom to my home office, clad in pajamas, the dogs and cat can't help but stare in wonder at the powerful image I cut with the Saddleback Leather Thirteener slung over my shoulder. Besides the devastating good looks, the bag is practical and efficient. It holds my 14" Dell Latitude plus power accessories, device charging cables, a notebook, and a 10" iPad wrapped in a think case. There's not much more room to spare - a couple of PowerBars, a small first aid kit - but that's all I need. Plus the size forces some good KonMario type decisions. E.g., do I still have enough hair to justify keeping a comb in here? Even when the time returns that I actually have to travel somewhere to see a human being in person, the Thirteener will accommodate me completely. The thick leather is clearly not going to wear out. My Dave's Deals unit came with a couple of minor beauty marks pre-applied, but even after fairly light use the other marks that naturally accumulate on the leather are hiding those original ones. I'm very happy with the case, so much so that I followed it up with a matching Document Holder. But in addition to the quality of the products, I enjoy the company's culture. Dave's emails are always a hoot and customer service I received from Janene during my decision making process was beyond outstanding. Merry Christmas.
I own every single one of the SBL briefcases. All of them are “needed” in their own unique way in my life. All of them are incredible! All of them are DCB. All of them look better beat up. This one is no exception. Perfect for the essentials without looking like a purse. AND, when I am away from my desk, it fits nicely in my bottom file drawer where it can be locked up while I am away. Love it!
