Yes and no. Apple wisely says no so they don’t get sued by idiots. If your pet passes anywhere near another iPhone or iOS users, their device will alert you anonymously. If your pet runs away out in the country, then no trackie trackie. But when it is in range of someone’s iOS device, you’ll get an alert.
Can you use the AirTag to catch a thief?
