Waxed canvas is a sturdy, natural fabric that's been impregnated with wax to make it water resistant. That means the bag can receive water on the surface but not soak in. The wax coating will darken over time and develop a beautiful patina, like our full grain leather.

We completely lined the interior with full-grain leather, as well as the back panel. It is the most resistant and strongest type of leather because it includes the full grain.

    Simple Efficiency

    I’ve had my eye on this bag for while as I’m always looking for high quality gear to make my 2 week oil field hitches both more efficient in gear I bring and to utilize the gear I do bring. I’ve always used various backpacks , but there are 2 major problems with backpacks. Too much unnecessary gear is brought and it’s not readily accessible. This Baby solves both of those with elegant ruggedness.

    The construction is impeccable, sturdy and tough. Love the simple strap locks, sold shoulder strap and the fact it remains upright when open on a flat surface. Love it! Love it! I

    Incognito tractor

    I’m the owner of several Saddleback full leather bags, and are in general very pleased with how they perform when it comes to daily carrying. But living on the West-coast of Norway basically means a lot of rain 2/3 of the year...... I bought this bag to cope with these conditions, and I find this choice of material giving the impression of being a proper “tractor” of a bag! Less subtle than the leather bags, and it’s ok! You don’t have to baby it, and it actually gets less attention than it’s leather siblings. This is a positive thing in situations where you need a very good bag, but want to be slightly incognito.

    All in all a great bag, but not really a competitor to leather. More a supplement.

    Great bag, top quality, poor strap design

    I'm reviewing the bag, not the customer service. Let me start by saying the customer service was excellent in helping me remedy my situation but in the end, we were not able to remedy it so I have to rate the bag accordingly.

    The bag materials are awesome. It looks great and will last forever, no doubt. My issue is with the strap and it is clearly designed for a 6 foot tall user. I am 5' 7" and when you shorten the strap to an appropriate length for my height, the leather should pad can not move to the center of the strap or anywhere near where it would rest on your shoulder. This makes the shoulder pad useless and awkward looking, and the whole strap ineffective. I don't really know how this strap passed user testing unless it was only tested with tall people. We tried multiple configurations to make it work and the only option was to customize the length (pay another company to do so), so I returned the bag. I think the design is defective and I hope SB recognizes that and changes it.
