    Great Bag, Lining is Disappointing

I've been a huge fan of Saddleback for years - this is my third bag. I've used the messenger bag daily for over four years and use the dry bag for a camera bag. Love both bags to death. I picked this up because I didn't have a proper backpack - which is probably the only reason why my wife doesn't have me sleeping on the couch after buying another Saddleback bag. This bag is not lined with that kind of rugged hard, resistant pig skin from my messenger bag four years ago. This "Natura Pigskin" is like a suede velvet type leather. While soft to the touch, it gets ugly stains when it comes into contact with leather conditioner - or honestly, anything that may spill in your bag. I don't doubt that it is still rugged, but with prices having been hiked, I'm left a little disappointed. Again, beautiful bag and exactly what I have come to expect from Saddleback aside from this caveat.

Great All Around Backpack.... whether it be adventure, school, or day to day life.

I've owned (and still own) most of the backpacks (Simple Canvas Pack, Front Pocket Backpack, Simple Backpack, Thin Front Pocket Backpack). I've found the Square Backpack (SBP) to be most comfortable for college use carrying a laptop/charger safely/comfortably, textbooks, paper, binders, calculator(s), pens/pencils, etc. It distributes its weight evenly across the back (unlike the Front Pocket Backpack in Medium). I do get compliments regularly on this bag and I can definitely say this bag will last you quite some time due to it's rugged build quality. My favorite feature is the large side pockets and the ability to tuck stuff behind them when I'm out on the run and not having to unbuckle the main pockets. The reinforced handle with support bar underneath is a great feature considering I do have to take the Square Backpack on and off throughout the day. If you're on the fence about getting one, stop torturing yourself. Buy once, cry once.

    Rugged but charming

As a detective I needed something rugged for the streets but to look good for the office and court. This is the bag. When it came I was like whoaaa , much bigger than expected. Wish it was a little smaller but I am definitely using the space.. Great buy

SBL - something has changed and it's not just prices

Just got my black Square and have been a long time SBL customer. Something seems...off...with this leather now. Seems thinner and more.."commericial". Not sure what exactly it is. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just different. However, if it is thinner that seems cheaper to me, esp. given the price hikes. Also, SBL is not including padded straps nor the removable, interior divider as seen on earlier version. Higher price. Less leather. Someone is counting beans over there and driving this company's product in the wrong directdion. -) this is a very nice cover. I do wish it was just a bit longer so it would fit rhodia large notebooks. I'm just not a very big fan of moleskines choice of paper. Anyone that's tried to write with a fountain pen on moleskines paper knows what I mean. Although this has nothing at all to do with this awesome cover! I like the large size so much I just now ordered the small version. I know lots of companies that make 3.5x5.5 size notebooks. Nice job Dave but just know moleskine paper isn't what it used to be.

    A work of Art

A few weeks ago I ordered and received one of the mountain back bags (medium gear bag) and I was so impressed that I found myself looking at the website daily for my next purchases. I found this bag on Dave's Deals at 25% off. I have looked over the entire bag and I have no idea why it was marked down. Looks amazing! My only issue so far is that I would like to be able to remove the straps to be stowed inside the bag if needed. The straps can be undone and released on the bottom but not the top. I have seen other similiar bags, that have a slit cut in the top of the bag, so the straps can be slid into the bag for storage. If I ever feel the need, or get brave enough, I may do it myself. Also, I was watching some of the videos on the bag and it looks like it used to come with padded straps, not sure why the style changed but I am sure it was for a reason. I was a little disappointed because the padded straps look like they would be very comfortable. But overall, a beautiful bag.
