Too much brand.
I have the original set, where the coasters stand on end in a nice case. The coasters are thick and lovely with 2ply leather and nice stitching. They absolutely protect whatever surface they're on. What has bothered me over the years though is the logo on *every coaster*. While this makes sense at Dave's house perhaps, it doesn't at mine. The logo is also on the holder, and I don't mind that as much. But every time I look at them I see a $49 ad on my table. I wish they were plain. I knew this when I bought them of course, it just took me 7 years of looking at them to figure out what bothered me.

Not what they used to be after a cost cutting design change :(
I am a HUGE Saddleback fan: I have a briefcase, 2 notepads, laptop sleeve, cable bag, 3 wallets, all 3 desk pad sizes, valet tray, sunglasses case, an ipad case, and 3 sets of coasters. I LOVED my first set of coasters, but put all of my stuff in storage while building a new house. I missed the coasters so much that I ordered 2 more sets but something didn't seem right... much lower quality and less substantial this time around. Fast forward to moving into my new house and finally being able to compare them, they are only half as thick as they used to be and are now only one piece of thick leather as opposed to two sewn together like my first set. This makes them much lighter weight and more likely to get stuck to the bottom of the glass as it's being lifted from the table. This is a real shame as the old ones were awesome and the new ones are now relegated to a drawer. Really hope to not see more cost cutting changes with the other things being changed at the company...

Coaster upgrade.
This coaster set will sit proudly on your coffee table, and look good doing it. The coasters themselves are thick and nicely stitched, with what appears to be either a suede or roughed out backing, to keep them from sliding around. The base that holds them has the same features, along with three rivets in each of the four corners to make it virtually bulletproof. If it's time to change your game and retire the soggy, tattered cardboard coasters you picked up along Duval Street in Key West a few years ago, look no further. Help has arrived.

Great looking coaster set!
My fiance spoiled me with some new leather for my birthday. The coasters are perfect for use in my bedroom since I have a leather headboard the same color. It's thick leather with an exceptional cut and stitch, the corners of the tray are riveted for extra reinforcement. I cant imagine this set falling apart or being torn up easily. I would recommend this coaster set, it lives up to the quality standards I have come to love and expect from SBL. Get the valet tray to match, they look great together.
