92% of laptop damage comes from dropping. 94% of statistics are made up. The real damage happens when your laptop bag falls to the ground with your computer in it, not just when your laptop slides off your lap. Therefore, we purposefully designed the bottom of this leather laptop sleeve to create an air pocket and leather bumper to absorb the impact.&&Remember that not all damage to laptops results in a dent, just like not all damage done to a person ends in a bruise. Some of the worst damage happens on the inside, by a shock or a harsh word. This horizontal leather sleeve is normally left in your laptop bag to protect your MacBook Air or 16" MacBook Pro. Fits loosely, but not too loosely so the leather laptop sleeve doesn't lift out of your bag when you pull your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air out of your briefcase.&&If need be, you can pull your laptop out and fill the leather laptop sleeve with files, papers and magazines so they don't get wrinkled.
Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Saddleback Leather. I love the company and their commitment to making excellent leather goods. My issue with this product is that it doesn't fit my laptop...at all. It is way too tight for my 15" MB Pro with Retina display. I received this as a Christmas gift from my wife and since then I've tried numerous methods of stretching it out. I've contacted customer support and they gave me a suggestion. I followed their direction and it didn't work. I then went to multiple sites and tried various methods of stretching it out and nothing seems to be working. The best thing so far is I stretched it for a week, oiled it, and stretched it another week. That seemed to work for about a week and now I'm back where I started. It takes me 15 minutes (no joke) to take it out of the sleeve. Now I think I'm going to use this as a document holder and get me an Incase sleeve. I've read reviews that the small size is too large for the 13" model and now my medium is too small for my 15" laptop. Saddleback needs to seriously test these sleeves on laptops or at least put a disclaimer about the size issues. I'm frustrated and disappointed with what I received, especially since it's very well made and beautiful to look at. I've just been able to appreciate it only when I'm trying to stretch it out.

I have been meaning to purchase this sleeve to put in my Classic Briefcase. I purchased the sleeve in tobacco and was looking forward to receiving it. When it arrived I slid my 15" MacBook Pro Retina inside and freaked when I thought I would never get the thing out. Finally, I managed to slide the laptop out and just didn't feel comfortable battling to get my laptop our of the sleeve. I tried a couple more times and became more disappointed with each attempt. Having owned and loved other products from Saddleback, I decided to give it a couple of days. I let the laptop sit overnight with the laptop inside to see if it would stretch a bit. Before leaving for work the next day, I tried getting the laptop out again. I grabbed the bottom of the sleeve with my right hand and and pulled on the laptop with my left (there is enough material at the bottom to grab on to). It was no where near as difficult as it was the previous day and slid out on the first try. Needless to say, Im keeping the heck out of this thing. The sleeve looks fantastic. Very rustic with beautiful coloration. The leather feels great and of course, it will only get softer and better looking over time. If it only took 24 hours to loosen a bit, I anticipate that it will only get easier as time goes by. So, don't panic if you feel that this sleeve is too tight. Give it a couple of days and try removing your laptop in the manner I mentioned. Thanks Saddleback!

Got the smaller size and my Surface Pro 3 fits like a dream. Has room to leave the stylus attached in the bag. BIG bonus = When I work I sit my opened Surface keyboard on the bag with the screen and stand just off the bag. This leaves enough of the bag exposed in front of the keyboard to serve as a wrist pad. An AWESOME rugged leather wrist pad that is not only comfortable, but also closes Million Dollar deals in it's sleep. Thanks Dave! Yes THAT one.

I actually bought this sleeve for my non-retina MacBook Pro (not recommended) and when I first tried to slip my laptop into the sleeve, it was beyond tight. And I mean so tight that it took minutes to shove the thing in there, and minutes to slowly inch it out. Luckily I was patient enough to stretch the leather out so that it fit my thicker laptop. I covered the edges of my MacBook with a thin sheet of cardboard and then forced it into the case. I left it in the case for 2 days to let it stretch, and then spent a good hour and a half using all my strength to pull the thing out of the case. Long story short, it worked. The case is gorgeous and very professional looking. It fits my non-retina MacBook Pro perfectly now - but I would strongly recommend not buying this sleeve for your non-retina MacBook Pro unless you are willing to be incredibly patient with the stretching process. All in all though, this is an awesome case that will without a doubt outlive your MacBook Pro by at least 80 years...

As a Saddleback fanatic, this marks the first occasion in which I'm truly disappointed with an item. In terms of functionality, there is very little. I purchased the small model, as I own a 13" MacBook Pro with retina display. As another customer wrote, there is a solid half inch of space between your computer and the sleeve all around. It's completely loose. If you turn it upside down or tilt it, your laptop WILL fall out. I previously owned the sleeve for the 13" MacBook Pro without retina (and that computer), and it was not like this. It fit very snugly and was clearly crafted specifically for that device. Not this one, though. Aesthetically, it's "uglier," too. Hideous, honestly. It just seems like this was a very rushed design. The seam goes straight down the middle of the sleeve and the bottom is just sort of awkwardly sewn shut. Again, the previous model was nothing like this. It had a classy elegance to it. . .like something you'd expect from Saddleback. This one looks like a knockoff. My final complaint is probably unique to my case, but it's certainly worth mentioning. Saddleback has become relaxed in what pieces of leather they use with regards to what they call "markings" (I call them outright blemishes, but that's a whole other diatribe). I order all of my Saddleback stuff in chestnut, and they're usually pretty good about selecting nicer pieces for that particular color. Actually, I've never seen a single "marking" on a product until now, and I've owned over ten items. The sleeve I received is utterly covered in blemishes. With no hyperbole, this cow lived a ROUGH life. It doesn't look like leather; it looks like it was made from Ray Charles' skin. Very disappointing. If you buy this, you will most likely be displeased. It's the one Saddleback product I deem unworthy of the monetary cost. I hope Dave goes back to the old design (but made for retina models) and includes some sort of a discount promotion if you exchange this one--it's that bad. Truly.
