Product Overview

Over-Engineering
We use only the best: full-grain leather, strong pigskin lining and premium marine-grade thread (the kind used on ships sails). Lasts a lifetime - simply switch out a new notebook and keep the worn and patinaed leather journal cover on the new A5 Leuchtturm1917, Moleskine® journals™ or your choice of planner, journal, or notepad that measures up to 5.5” wide and 8.5” tall. Hardcover journals and planners fit best. Can be used with most similarly sized non-Moleskine or Leuchtturm journals and becomes especially beautiful with age. Recycle the A5 cover for years of journal use. Leather Journal Cover only. Journal not included.

We are very aware of the controversy of the newer company, Moleskine from 1997, taking the design and functionality of the Leuchtturm1917 and taking it to market in a big and popular way. We call it a Leather Moleskine Cover because it fits both perfectly, plus dozens of other brands and sizes, but we are usually in favor of the original, if they are quality and innovative. We have employees who only use Leuchtturm1917 journals because they like how the pages are each numbered and that they have a table of contents that you can put in there to find notes. It's interesting the controversy. Bottom line, we make quality leather journal and planner covers for quality designs.

    All the possibilities!!!

I am really excited about all the possibilities. At this moment, I have a journal inside. I also love the fact that I can put either my debit or credit cards, (making it also a multi functional wallet) or business cards inside. I have all the Saddleback business cards (that were included with each product), so that I can share my love of Saddleback with everyone. I am considering putting my passport inside when I travel, and of course it’s always handy to have a pen available. Best leather ever.

    Excellent Product

The quality of this piece is top shelf. The size is perfect. My calendar fits perfectly and there is also space for a note-pad, which I needed, being a song writer and public speaker. I always need to be able to make a note on a thought. I got the Chestnut color and it turns heads everywhere I go. I have not been more satisfied with a purchase than this one. If you love great quality leather...Saddleback is your new favorite friend. I now just have to control my leather addiction.

    Overall good

This seems like another high quality saddleback product of which I own many. The only issue I have is that there is no way to secure the cover shut. No buckle, snap or even a way to get the moleskin elastic band wrapped around it to prevent the cover from flopping around. At this point I am using a rubber band which really takes away from the beauty of this otherwise wonderful product.

    New design moleskine cover

Dave: I am a regular customer. I love your stuff. But here’s my thoughts on this journal cover:

I bought it after carrying around your old journal cover for many years. But I was recently was robbed at a gas station and they got my journal with the old design cover. So I had to replace it with this new design one. I know that some people will disagree…but...I really hate this new design for the journal cover. I hate it so much. You cannot use the journal elastic band! The journal cover does not fit tightly around the journal, and it flops open. It basically kills the whole point of a compact, tight moleskine. I am going to have to do the unthinkable—I feel like I am somehow betraying you, but: after many years of using your journal covers, I am going to have to use a (vastly inferior!) journal cover made elsewhere, but which accommodates the most elastic band. I know I am just one voice here today,, but I can’t be the only person who would beg you: please please consider making the old design too! You were one of the few people on the market that made really high quality covers that accommodated the elastic band. Please reconsider abandoning the design.

I am giving the new design one three stars because I darned well know it is awesome quality. But to me, it lacks the utility and genius of the old design.
