I'm a 5'5'' female who is enjoying the bag. I like the dark coffee brown but wonder about the other colors. It was hard to pick. I mainly use the bag to hold my big leather wallet (chestnut), sun glasses, phone, charger, ear buds, Saddleback's simple coin purse, and some times water. The two inside side pockets are handy for a pen, pencil, and small field notes. I clip my keys to the D ring where the strap attaches. My phone is usually in the outside back pocket. I feel comfortable wearing the bag when dressed casually. I will caution people that the dcb scratches at the slightest touch. Finally, I wish something could be done about the long "tail" that hangs from the shoulder strap because of where I have it buckled.
I own multiple Saddleback Leather products from the slim wallet to the 15" medium slim briefcase to the larger Waterbag. The Indiana Satchel in chestnut met the high expectations I have come to expect from this company. Dave et al have done an amazing job. As a physician, I use this on my daily rounds. It houses my iPad pro, charging accessories, paperwork, a portable ultrasound and my stethoscope. I get plenty of compliments on it. The leather is still stiff, but I bet it'll soften up nicely over time. My only gripe is that unlike my briefcase, it does not have a little key holder or extra D-rings to attach stuff to. I suppose this allows for the light weight nature of the bag and the clean look. Its worth every penny (and probably a few more)
If you're looking for a bag to use during the weekend or when you're off work, this is the one for you. It's the perfect size to fit anything you might need on a day out. It's well built, not very heavy and beautiful. I've been using this bag for about two years now and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
I own a lot of bags. I have owned a lot of leather bags which were really nice to look at and use until their threads and other stuff started falling apart. So sad! This bag is made with such quality that it is really impossible to describe until you have it in your hands. When I walk down the street with this bag which is holding my 10 inch notepad, camera, phone, book, and other stuff in it like water, I know that they are really protected as good as can be expected. Plus it looks great too. You will not regret buying this bag for holding small stuff like I mentioned. You can look at it this way. This tough but attractive satchel does just what I wanted. It carries a few necessities - iPad, notebooks, flashlight, bag of nuts, a book or two - without crowding. Plus, I get compliments on its appearance most places I go. I figured it was borderline spendy but I soon realized the old saying, "You get what you pay for." This wonderful satchel is fully capable of outliving me and worth every cent. Oh, and the workmanship itself is surprisingly beautiful.
