An Unbreakable Men’s Toiletry Bag
Please don’t try hard to challenge the idea of this leather toiletry bag being unbreakable. Still, it was designed to be that way with no breakable parts and out of just one solid piece of leather. The fewer seams, the better. The closure is a steel Gladstone Bag closure, with a simple strap and buckle to keep it closed. No zippers, velcro, buttons, snaps, or magnets.
Quality Materials Makes The Best Toiletry Bags
When I designed this toiletry bag, I did the same as with all Saddleback Designs. I thought of all the essentials to make it the best, most durable, longest-lasting bag you will ever own. Of course, I had to use the highest-end materials and the best design. It’s not easy, but quality never is. Otherwise, like the other toiletry bags you can purchase at the department store, it would be average. So I set out to make the best men’s toiletry bags, which I believe I did.
Full Grain Leather Toiletry Bag
We built this leather toiletry bag like we build everything, with full grain leather. This is the determining factor for how long a leather toiletry bag will last. The “Grain” on leather makes up the top layer of the hide. It’s super tough, water resistant, and ages nicely. The hide off the cow is thick, and at the tannery, they usually split it in the middle and separate the top from the bottom, and now they have two hides. The upper hide with the full amount of the grain on it, and the bottom hide with no grain on it. Quality companies pay high dollar for the full grain leather, and low quality trash companies make leather toiletry bags out of the bottom dwelling stuff with no grain on it. It’s like building a house with no shingles on the roof.
Lining The Men’s Toiletry Bag
Tough pigskin, which is actually stronger than the cowskin. It’s way stronger than some shiny pretty fabric liner.
Thread
The thread we chose is very, very strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread. And the thick version of it too. Watch out for the cheaper NYLON thread!!! It deteriorates with exposure to heat and sun.
Hardware
We only have one piece of hardware on this bag, and it’s incredible. It’s made of 316 Stainless, and we think it could withstand a nuclear bomb. Google it, and you’ll be really impressed. It’s expensive, but it’s the metal of choice for when your life depends on it.
