Product Overview

The Saddleback Club is a one year membership that starts the day you sign up. My hope is that members have more fun, friends, meaning and success in their lives and that we get to know you on a more personal level because we’re in this tighter community. I see the Saddleback Club being the coolest, most personal and interconnected community in the whole world. Saddleback Leather developed into something special because I had my first bag made and then made another and then another one. Last year's membership was the “first bag”, with more “bags” or simple angles and cool layers to come. This 'Second Edition' membership has a more universal leather bundle that can be used by both men & women.

You pay $499, here's what you get in return:

Over $750 Worth Of Free Members Only Leather Gifts

Choosing a Color - Tobacco or Dark Coffee Brown
Here's how it works: you choose your color - Tobacco or Dark Coffee Brown. Whatever color you select is the leather color we'll be sending of your free club designs. This includes the 14" Overnight Bag, 8" Toiletry Bag, Treasure Sack, Luggage Tag, and Keychain.

Free Members Leather Designs - 100 Year Warranty on all designs

1. 14" Overnight Bag

Material
This leather duffle bag is made from thick, full-grain tumbled leather. It's unlined, so it's soft and pliable. We basically broke in the leather for you before we made it. The hardware is a custom stainless steel, which is overkill but it's what you want if your life depended on it. The stitching is industrial-strength polyester thread that is UV and water resistant (the same type of thread used on ship sails and parachutes). All major stress points are reinforced with extra stitching, rivets, or hidden polyester strips that don't stretch.

Functionality
The 14" Overnight Bag is essentially a baby Waterbag. It's made from one piece of leather, has a removable liner (the liner gives it more structure; removing the liner makes it softer and more pliable), and can be carried multiple ways.
Four Ways to Carry - 1) Traditional crossbody with the shoulder strap. 2) Hand-carry with the comfortable, padded handle. 3) Backpack Mode by weaving the shoulder strap through the o-ring. 4) Tote Mode

Dimensions (W x H x D)
Rolled: 14” x 10-15” x 8.25"
Tote: 14” x 19” x 8.25"
Weight: 5 lbs.

2. 8" Toiletry Dry Bag
Made from the same high quality materials as the leather duffle bag with an almost identical design, but smaller. The perfect size for a travel toiletry kit, shaving kit, cosmetic bag, or small tool bag.

Dimensions (W x H x D)
8” x 4-7” x 5”

3. Treasure Sack
The Treasure Sack is what people used to call a "possibles bag." Possibles were all things a mountain man might possibly need while out traveling. Things like shooting tools, fire starting materials, and bullets could be carried in the pouch. You probably aren't carrying those things on a daily basis today, but it's great for carrying your everyday carry items. Phone, wallet, keys, chapstick, pocket knife or multi-tool, sunglasses, pens, etc. Use it to hold coins, organize junk drawers, chargers and cables, etc.

Dimensions (W x H)
5" x 7”

4. Luggage Tag
A simple design, but there's no doubt that it'll make your luggage look better when traveling. Pull the strap up between both sides of the luggage tag, slide your ID card/info down in there, and cinch the strap back down. Loop it through a d-ring to secure it to your bag.

Dimensions (W x H x D)
2.75” x 4.25” x 0.25”

5. Keychain
An exclusive leather keychain with the signature logo on one side and Saddleback Club on the other. Our regular tobacco or dark coffee brown leather (not tumbled).

Dimensions (W x H x D)
2" x 2.75" x 0.25"

    Traveled Europe with #nocheckedbags

We travel to Europe at least annually. On the last several trips, at least one of our checked bags have been delayed, which is a total hassle involving waiting at the airport (if we're lucky) or waiting around our Airbnb for a courier to deliver them.

When planning our three-week trip for this summer (Oslo, Bergen, Stroud, and London--five flights, one train) we decided to travel without checking bags.

Just a few weeks before our trip, I received the email about the Saddleback Club membership and fell in love with the military duffle. I bought it immediately and had my bag in hand before our departure.

The great thing about the military duffle is the access to the compartment at one end of the bag via a buckled leather flap.

I put my shoes (or boots depending on which I wore on a particular flight), toiletries, and other liquids that I have to remove at airports in that end of the bag. It made passing through security at DFW, Bergen, Oslo, and Heathrow a piece of cake!

While the bag was packed pretty heavy, the way the duffle wrapped around my hip made it easy to carry.

It can also be worn as a backpack but I only did this once because I was also carrying a lot of equipment (laptop, portable monitor, cabling, camera--I had to record a podcast while abroad), snacks for the flights, and some work-related docs in my Saddleback front pocket backpack. The backpack, by the way, fits perfectly under the seat on the plane--even when I have to fly coach.

The duffle, packed to the gills, fit in the overhead on our American flight from/back to the US without a problem. On the smaller regional aircraft used by SAS between UK and Norway, it fit longways in the overhead but not nose-in like they really prefer you stow your carryons. But no one ever gave me any grief about it.

The organizer bags were great for carrying all of the cords and international adapters--including an international power strip--I carried with me. Those were mostly in my backpack most of the trip.

My only regret was that I didn't think about clipping my Saddleback satchel to the outside of the duffle. It would have made access to my passport, phone, and cash a lot easier when I was carrying both the backpack and the duffle using the cross-body strap. Well, I'll be sure to include the satchel on my next adventure to Mexico later this summer!

I also got a number of favorable comments on both the duffle and the backpack (which isn't unusual). One person even asked if they were from Saddleback!

Bottom line, this duffle is my new primary piece of luggage. It is good looking and practical.

    Saddleback Club Membership

The items received for the membership club are lovely. I ordered the TB. The large duffel bag was for my hubby: the membership was for me. The leather on the duffle has some texture. To me it adds character to the bag and will just age beautifully over time. All the items are quality and are nice additions to my other TB pieces.

Can you have too much? (no)

I think I signed up in the first hour after the email. Of course. I already have a few things; the desk pad, the laptop case, the Moleskine, etc.. but never any bags. This was the perfect opportunity.. and today they arrived. Barely a month after the order, so right on time. I love it all.. the organizers and the duffle are great. It's a bit unorthodox but they're going into the trunk of the hot rod for tools and associated "in case of emergency" stuff. The big mouth case was too small, so the bigger duffel is perfect. Seems overkill for car stuff? Not a bit of it.. every piece of saddleback leather I have will last forever, and I love the patina of things they get used often. And can't wait for the Mexico trip!

    Just Couldn't Resist

After seeing a co-worker with a really neat leather briefcase and finding out he purchased it from Saddleback, I looked into their story, the company, and products. I was hooked on the story and the quality of their leather goods is amazing. Slowly, I started to build my Saddleback collection. I have never communicated with Dave except through his written descriptions of his products and videos.
However, there is something about Dave - he has that charisma that just draws you in a little bit more at a time. I look forward to my experience as a Saddleback Club member. Thank you Saddleback.
