Design of the Travel Satchel

When I was in Croatia on a family business trip, I carried my EDC Leather Satchel, just as I always do. I noticed that the majority of the men there were carrying one similar, but larger in size. The Leather Travel Satchel is what I came up with. One thing to note, the Travel Satchel will not clip onto the older hardware (the non-stainless steel hardware - Pre 2016).

Materials Used to Make the Leather Travel Satchel

We made the Leather Travel Satchel from 100% full-grain leather, just like our other bags. And it's thick too. With no layers of the cowhide shaved off, we keep the toughest part of the hide intact. Then we line the entire inside of this leather satchel with pigskin, which is even more durable than cow hide.

Everything is sewn together using really long-lasting marine-grade polyester thread. The way we sew is different too. Using only 5 stitches per inch, we are able to reduce the number of holes in the leather, which, in turn, means less potential for a tear to occur.

The buckles and d-rings are over-engineered, made from a custom 316 stainless steel. It's what you would want to use if your life depended on it.

What Fits

Phone, Wallet, Keys, Multi-tool, Field Notes and pen, Passport, Sunglasses, Small notebook, etc.

The Best Travel Satchel

The Leather Travel Satchel is perfect when you need a rugged and stylish travel bag. It's designed to be comfortable and easy to access, while still providing plenty of storage space for all your essential items. The full-grain leather construction and pigskin lining provide added protection against wear and tear, while the custom 316 stainless steel buckle and clips ensure durability in any situation. Plus, the 100-year warranty gives you peace of mind that your satchel will last. So whether you're a commuter or a traveler, the Leather Travel Satchel is the perfect option.

    Bag Envy

I bought the Rounded Satchel- Tobacco (My favorite Saddleback Bag of all time.....ALL TIME!!!), and I got a black leather Travel Satchel as she does not like pursey-purses and likes a little more of a purposeful bag. The Leather Travel Satchel from Saddleback is absolutely one of the coolest bags. I totally want one. Heads up- it is a smaller bag with a lot of room. It does not look like a purse at all. So if you are worrying that someone might mistake you ....whoever you are for carrying a purse-that is not the case. Instead you get a ridiculously awesome EDC bag capable of being on every adventure with you. The only reason I did not get this bag for myself was the multiple methods of carry and the titch of extra space in Saddlebacks Rounded Satchel (once again-the best bag they make in my humble opinion). My wife uses this bag on the reg! Like every day and I doubt she will get tired of it and be like "nice try not my thing-here you go" and just give it me. It is a gift she is going to keep and that is even cooler. Anyway- don't hesitate- grab this bag as it is sooo cool!

    Excellent small travel companion

As usual, Saddleback craftsmanship quality is second to none. This is an excellent small edc bag. Phone, wallet, keys, sketchbook, some pencils, all fitting great inside. A very nice bonus is that you can wear it as a side satchel hanging on your belt.

    Shotgun Shells.

I originally purchased this satchel to house an A5 journal as well as a fountain pen case and I was going to put it in my Front Pocket Backpack or Tank. While that does work and it keeps everything protected, it's overkill. Instead, I found a far more practical use for it: a bag for shotgun shells when shooting clays. Yes, it does get a bit loaded down but it does the job incredibly well. If you shoot shotguns, then I recommend giving this a try. I wasn't pleased with any of the other shell bags I tried and this has the well-known Saddleback quality. You can't go wrong. Five Stars.

    EDC Perfection

Okay ladies and gentlemen, This is THE one! Over the past decade or so I’ve purchased and carried numerous Saddleback bags and could never find the sweet spot for a light day carry bag. The original pouch was too thin and so difficult to unload with large hands. But, this one can’t get any better. Still only one piece of leather for the body but it’s sewn in a way to have a nice large opening to reach in and be able to see inside it. The style with the buckle instead of the toggle makes it look and feel much more premium over the pouch. It’s about as masculine as a small leather shoulder bag can get guys… but, the gals will love it too! Dave, dusty carbon in this one PLEASE!!!

Great bag for things slightly too big to pocket

I've had this bag for about 5 months now and have used it most every day when I'm going out. If it's a longer day out, I'll take a bigger bag, but this is perfect for going out for a few hours. Anything that might be slightly too big to pocket is a great contender for what to stuff in here. Or just take the regular things out of your pocket. My main use case for this was to be able to bring my e-reader around with me. I wanted to use it more than my phone but didn't have a good way to carry it. The Kobo Libra 2 with the Sleep Cover fits *perfectly* in this bag and leaves room for a sunglasses case, inhaler, 5 hour energy, and a little room left over for a small camera (Olympus XA) or a flash for a bigger camera or my wallet if I don't want it in my pocket. I also carry a little bag of medicine and such in the back. Usually forget about it until I'm very glad I have something for heartburn. Another layout is a water bottle and a compact umbrella, to give you a sense of the size. My one complaint is that the strap is very very long. I'm a skinny 6' guy, so it's expected, but cinching the strap up all the way but it below my waist and letting the strap all the way out put it comically at my knee. I modified the strap by cutting it and adding my own holes to be able to raise it all the way up to my abs if I'm worried about someone trying to put their hands in the bag. I think there should be an option to buy a shorter strap as I couldn't quite nail the look from the factory. There is no padding on the strap, but there's also not a lot of space to weigh down the bag, so no issues there. I've considered adding an outside D ring to one side and a pen holder to the other, and maybe that would make a good version 2, but all in all I love this bag. Highly recommended.
