Product Overview

Over-Engineered

Redesigned to be even tougher than the original design. I added a false bottom and reinforcements for backpack mode in this Rounded Leather Satchel. There are two backpack pads so you can go backpack mode when you're out in the wild. Or you can use the handle to carry it when you're on your daily commute, and you have the option to wear it normal as a satchel on your shoulder or crossbody.

Materials in these Leather Satchels

Full-grain leather made to last for 100-Years. It is lined with pigskin, stronger than cow leather to hold your bag together, with strong marine grade UV-resistant polyester thread. The same thread is used for parachutes and sails. 316 Stainless Steel to give it a great look and even more durability.

Lets Talk Leather in these Rounded Leather Satchels

Like the rest of our leather designs, I do not go cheap on the leather. That is the first thing other companies will do to save money; Saddleback Leather is not that kind of company. I use full grain leather, which is the top of all leather. It is the strongest, most resistant, and will last 100 years with proper care. I want to feel good about my designs when you get one of my leather satchels, which is why I use the best leather.

Leather Satchels Made With UV Resistant Polyester Thread

When I design a Leather Satchel and other classic leather bags, I use full grain leather. Now, if I use the best leather, why would I go cheap on the thread? That would make no sense at all. So instead, a polyester thread is super strong, and I use it to join the leather together, whether it is a satchel, handbag, wallet, laptop bag, or leather briefcases. It is called quality craftsmanship, and I hope other leather bag makers learn one day so they can stand tall behind their bags and other accessories. Every piece that goes in should match the level of quality, it should all go into account, all details in mind. Crafted with care for the consumer more than the profit margin.

Leather Bag Hardware You Can Depend On

So you won't always be in the jungle with your life potentially depending on your leather satchel hardware, but if you are, I want you to trust this hardware. I use 316 stainless steel for all the hardware on my leather bags. It is not only great looking but will never rust on you, even if it gets super wet in the rain or you accidentally drop it in a puddle or river.

This is surgical-grade stainless steel. Search around; you can't get a satchel with anything better. Demand the best, practical, sophisticated, and gorgeous. Shop around, browse our website and discover the Saddleback Leather collection and the quality we deliver. If you have any questions, email us or pick up the phone.

Functionality

The d-rings are great to strap your light jacket, tripod, keys, or wet river shoes on and allow you to swap between carrying it as a Satchel or Backpack. You can trust these d-rings on your Full Grain Leather Satchel to hold up, whether in the jungle, on your way to a business meeting, or at the shooting range.

A Leather Satchel Backpack

That is correct; this design also functions as a backpack. The back panel of the bag has pads and covered in full-grain leather, so it is comfortable and will never scratch your skin like some other backpacks. The shoulder strap is adjustable so that you can tighten or loosen it to your desired comfort level. This is handy if you are on a long hike and want the comfort of these leather satchels on your back. The rounded leather bottom makes it so much more comfortable as well.

The Rounded Leather Satchel is Practical with Style

You can always load your pockets with everything you want to carry, or you can load this satchel down. From your iPhone 12 Pro Max to a 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9 with no case, to a smaller tablet, to your lunch, it can handle it. Add your keys and other accessories and gear to it. Of course, you will not fit a laptop or a MacBook in it, but we have different designs for that.

This is not for someone that doesn't like to get noticed. Like our other full grain leather bags, the moment someone sees you with it is the moment they know you didn't get that quality craftsmanship at the department store. You will be putting yourself out there to stand out from the crowd. Not in the blue hair way, but in the way that shows your confidence and love of quality.

A Leather Satchel Perfect For Any Occasion

Going shopping or going fishing, this satchel is ready. It is unpretentious yet stands out at the same time. You will not look out of place in the city or beach. You could take this classic carefully crafted rounded leather satchel with you to a business meeting or for a walk in the park. It functions beautifully as an everyday bag, a travel bag, or even a small diaper bag for those unexpected adventures with your little ones.

The Rounded Leather Satchel is an Investment

You will cry if you think back at how many satchels, backpacks, or other bags you have purchased over the years that had to be replaced. However, the money wasted on junk products will make you realize how a satchel with a 100 year warranty makes sense. An investment in a quality leather satchel will save you money over the years.

A Satchel That Gets Better With Age

Like all of our other full-grain leather designs, this rounded leather satchel will look even better as it ages. The more you use this bag, the more character it will develop. So get out there and start exploring with your new favorite leather bag. See what kind of story you can create when you carry this work of art around with you.

Create A New You That Travels The World

People assume you are a world traveler when we ship your new satchel, so make it so. The price isn't as expensive as you think. Book a flight to another country a year from now; just pick one and work out the details later. You will have time to get a passport if you don't have one. Let this investment be the launch of a new you. Take your wife, take your family if you have one, and discover the world. Delivery of this bag can be the start of a change, a better, more sophisticated brand of you. Send yourself somewhere to discover what is out there. Subscribe to the mindset that you deserve this satchel, and this trip, grab your bags and make a plan.

To Sum It Up

The Rounded Leather Satchel is a high-quality, 100-year warrantied bag that is perfect for everyday use. It has room to comfortably hold smaller tablets, smartphones, even your wallet and other necessary items, making it an excellent choice for traveling or running errands. You can't Stop at just One

I don't know WHAT I was thinking getting 2 of these! Yes, I do...I needed one in TB AND DCB (yes this isn't just a man bag...it's unisex!). These bags are just like all the other SBL gear....tough as nails. The pockets on the side are actually usable (I shove my phone in there and my company ID in the other). Inside holds a water bottle and all my normal EDC type things. And the back pocket; misc paper bits. I have it in backpack mode all the time and even when I'm not wearing it as such, I still leave it and swing it over one shoulder...works out perfectly! Someone once told me this is one of the "must have" SBL pieces...it's timeless and I could not more!

    A Definite Keeper

I got the dark brown, go-anywhere-in-the-world, Rounded Leather Satchel. While one can convert the Rounded Leather Satchel into a backpack (totally cool), one can easily trek across the courtyards of a university campus as they can trek the back trails in search of some adventure.

This leather satchel is exceptionally striking. When I first opened the box from Saddleback and removed the satchel from its plastic bag, I had an instant emotional attachment. The dark brown leather satchel just struck a chord within me that was undeniable (Okay, now I’m counting the eye-rolls). Seriously, there’s something about dark brown, full-grain leather that draws you in. I wasn’t quite drooling, but as I inspected the satchel and the strap, its quality construction impressed me. I expect this Rounded Leather Satchel to go wherever I go, and it will not leave me wanting.

When I set the leather satchel down, it remains upright (thank you, designer team). The 4.5 inches of extra room at the bottom of the satchel easily accommodates two 9x7 inch paperback books, an iPad Pro 11” with a keyboard case attached, a small/medium-sized EDC pouch, eyeglass case and other paraphernalia. The leather satchel also sports two outer pouches on both ends. Initially, I thought I could squeeze a water bottle in (I’ve tried it and it is doable, but the pockets are too short and shallow for practical use. Also, if I put books and other stuff in the satchel, it would push the sides of the bag out and it would eliminate any remaining space for a bottle). So, I put small items I need quick access to in the pouch facing front, and stuff a bandana on top of it so they don’t fall out; it also it keeps curious eyes out. Overall, the Rounded Leather Satchel is well-designed.

May I suggest sewing a flap over the top of the side pockets and attach a thin leather type shoelace or flat strap on the flap to pull the flap down over a button or attachment point, and attach it to the front of the pockets? This prevents objects from falling out if the satchel is tilted, and there is no need for the bandana. :-) A secured flap also deters others standing or seated next to me from surreptitiously removing any items from the pockets. Perhaps a buckled strap might serve as a better deterrent? Thank you for doing such a great job designing and constructing this leather satchel.

Best Damn Gear Ever for Wo(men)

I now own three Saddleback pieces so I'm going to same mostly the same thing about all over them - they're my favorite gear ever. I'm a woman, and I buy only from the "men's" collection. So personal opinion, would love to see this perhaps labeled adventure or rugged, or whatever.. just not "men's". Just like I think some guys would like the 41 line... I think it would open a whole new demographic. If not, that's ok, I kinda like the exclusivity of it too :P .
I first started with the Front Pocket Leather Backpack, since I was traveling all over the world launching operations for a startup in places like Africa, Australia, and SE Asia. I needed something I could throw around a rickshaw, or withstand the elements of the desert or outback while protecting my expensive gear - laptops, drones, navigational equipment, DSLR, and my notebooks. That backpack was ALL that plus looks. Got complimented everywhere, plus I could take it into meetings and still look professional.

Next I bought the Rounded Leather Satchel when I moved back to the US and needed more of a low key briefcase type that could hold my Macbook Pro 13". I knew it was a gamble, but unlike the description.. it actually fits mine - just at a slight angle and no case. It's still got the rugged look I love that tells people I have a story, looks great if I take it on a short outdoor adventure (backpack style), or wearing a business suit and heels to go to a meeting. MEN and WOMEN love it.

Now, I got the Baby Beast for my bf so he'd have a gymbag/carryon replacement. After I saw my brothers' Baby Beast in action while we traveled Mexico (when all else fails and there's no more room in the truck... USE THE DAMN STRAPS.. and these bags will securely attach anywhere. I promise no end of sierra curves or topes (speedbumps) will knock these bags off). So I had to get one for my bf.. but the truth is.. I'm claiming shared custody on this one.

Bottom line, if you like adventure (man or woman), this is the line. Sometimes I travel to remote parts of the world and sometimes I just like going into town with my satchel. Either way, I love knowing that the expensive crap I like to buy can be protected by Saddleback leather and the last thing I want to worry about is the durability of my gear protecting it.
And I like looking good doing all that.

Now I'm working on my Private Pilot's License... so next on the list is the Flight Bag. The adventure continues.

    It’s Baaack!

Back in the day I bought the large satchel (to use as a briefcase) and the small satchel (to use as a purse) but never the medium. I have kicked myself ever since. Much to my delight Saddleback brought back the medium and I snatched up a tobacco version. I am retired now and the medium is the perfect size for loading up for a nice hike with dog in either cross body or backpack mode. I can use the exterior rings to hang off a collapsible water bowl and the poop bag holder. Add lunch and dog food and I have the perfect adventure bag. Those ring are so handy and exterior pockets are what makes this bag. Thank you for bringing it back!
