C. S. Lewis (1898–1963) A former diehard atheist and professor at both Oxford and Cambridge, he became one of the most influential Christian philosophers, storytellers and apologists (explaining and defending the faith) in all of history and called himself “the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England.” He had a knack for using logic and story to explain that Christianity is not only logically true, but joyfully satisfying to the human heart. The Chronicles of Narnia series for kids and adults, Mere Christianity (logic of Christian belief), The Problem of Pain (why suffering exists) and The Screwtape Letters (how Satan works) have helped millions of people to come to know God more deeply.
