    Sooooo good

    The smell of the leather, the feel of quality. Solid, dependable, beautiful and practical. Instantly my favorite accessory and destined to stay that way.

    Great pack, need to pony up for the newer style

    I have the original design (with the side pocket leather toggles instead of the buckles), and have used and loved using it for many years. Saddleback has obviously improved the design in the intervening years (no seam at the base of your back, side pocket buckles instead of toggles), so I really need to consider upgrading mine.

    Best bag I have had

    I travel a lot. No one has asked me about my bag till I purchased your bag. Each trip 2 or 3 folks come up to me and ask about it!! I think I am your new marketing person

    The BIG BAD BOY of BACKPACK is here!

    (1) Myself: Humble person having custody of six SBL icons including two backpacks (black, M and L), one front pocket briefcase (black, L, stolen in San Francisco in Dec 2019), one The Beast duffle (chestnut, Grand-Teton size) and this, the Big Bad Boy of Backpack, the TANK (dark coffee brown.) (2) Observation #1: No one actually owns any SBL icons. We are just blessed custodians, and in time, will honorably pass these icons on to the next (generation) custodian(s). SBL quality is beyond my inadequate ability to describe. Holding the Tank in your hand, my dear friend, and you are experience the sensation of immortality. (3) Observation #2: All elements are as they should be. Pockets are big when bigness is required. Linings are where linings are needed. No more, and no less. The blending of utility and beauty is smack-down righteous. (4) Dave, God Bless!

    excellent backpack

    This turned out to be one of the most comfortable backpacks. It holds everything, has sufficient separated compartments, but most importantly--it stands up when placed on the ground or a chair.
