    Love the Tank!

My Chestnut Tank looks great and allows me to fly on short trips without checking a bag. Pockets hold accessories and travel kit in the organizer pouch I got as a gift. Cyber Monday Mystery box netted me a moleskin cover and business card holder to boot.

    Excellent Wallet and backpack

Medium Bifold wallet and the squared backpack “Tank” are fantastic.

    Nice Addition to Collection

I recently purchased a Squared Leather Backpack as a companion piece to a Doctor's Overnight Duffel. I am looking forward to Amtrak train travel this summer and feel this will be a fantastic combo. The Squared Leather Backpack is very utilitarian, functional and comfortable. The straps are different from my original Tank and I actually prefer the new, updated style. As a side note, I purchased a Little Big Mouth Toiletry Bag and it fits perfectly within the confines of the Squared Leather Backpack. Great job as usual, Saddleback Leather. "Tank" you very much!

    The perfect daily carry

I've been a long time Saddleback fan, having many different types of briefcases and backpacks. I've been using a front pocket backpack as my daily bag for the office. I switched to the Tank 2.0 and can't say enough good things about it. The design is much better suited for carrying laptops and work gear. Incredibly comfortable, looks great, and holds it shape no matter how full or empty it is. This has become my daily office bag and I can't see it being replaced anytime soon. I typically carry a 14" ThinkPad, 12.9" iPad Pro & keyboard, chargers, a few drinks, a Kindle, sunglasses, pens, etc. Fits all of that no problem. The side pockets are really tall and hold quite a bit. Can't recommend this design enough.

    7 years later

I bought my Chestnut backpack on August 29th, 2012. Yes, Two Thousand Twelve, which I suppose makes it a version 1.0? I have used it daily for over seven years, it has seen over a million miles of air travel, 10,000 miles of motorcycle duty and generally gotten dragged around the world to my engineering jobs. I haven't engaged with any Masai warriors, but I am up for it. I condition it regularly with Chamberlains Leather Milk and it gets more and more beautiful with each year. (Just like my wife, but much more leathery!) When it first arrived I had some issue with the straps, I honestly can't remember what the problem was, but I see in my records postage and a note that said I sent the straps back. The straps I have now are perfect. They have formed to my body and are more comfortable than anything else I have. The screw thread D-rings have were an annoyance at first but a dab of blue locktite and they haven't come loose in years. My middle son has called dibs when I die, so the fighting has already started! Is it heavy? Yes. Is it too heavy? No. It is like a good tool, it feels good just to pick it up, and if I have to carry a few extra pounds for the privilege I need the exercise anyway. I have never been one to tout brands or be "loyal" to a company. My Saddleback backpack is the only thing I own that I will proudly direct others to seek out. Some one comments on it at least once per week, more if I am traveling. I recently joined a new team and a coworker walked in with a new Saddleback briefcase. It was instantly recognizable. He asked me how old my backpack was and I told him "7 years", he responded, "they aren't kidding about their quality are they?". No they are not. My wife was a bit shocked when I told her how much I spent on it seven years ago, it being completely out of character for my cheap engineering nerd self. But now we both see it as a completely reasonable expenditure. I bought one of my daughters an over-the-shoulder clutch purse for Christmas this year and I have no doubt she will have it for decades.
