Our leather is the strongest we can find (full-grain leather). It still has all of the grain on it. We line the leather briefcase with pigskin for even more strength. The thread is unbelievably strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread, and our custom hardware is 316 Stainless Steel. It's the metal of choice when your life depends on it. We consider every single detail when making a leather bag guaranteed to last 100 years.
Our Thin Front Pocket Briefcase is made out of the toughest, full-grain leather. This is the top layer of the hide and has all of the grain, making it tougher and more water-resistant. Most companies will use a cheaper, thinner leather that is easy to process and falls apart in a few years.
The natural color of Tobacco (tan, light brown) might be the most common. It has a casual look but develops a beautiful patina over time. Some people prefer a different style, so for those, we also offer this leather in Dark Coffee Brown and Chestnut (reddish brown).

This is a perfect size briefcase. I was really wasn't sure if this would be the rite size because I have ordered in the past and what comes is much larger than what I expected but I am totally pleased. It's totally professional and can take a beating out in the field. I own numerous saddleback bags and always receive compliments with each one. I have a wallet that my American Pitbull Terrier got to and still use. This stuff is built as tough as it gets.
After 1,453 days the patina and scuffs make this bag look amazing. Like all SL Co gear, it looks better and better with use. When I first get something from SL, I want to drag it behind my car for a few days to give it that worn-in look. I use this and the 'ROLLED WAXED CANVAS DUFFEL' regularly for business, and I am on the road 20 weeks a year. I have always been interested in style, rugged style, I am not a designer logo sort of guy, but this bag has more style than anything on the market further the quality is second to none. If I had to give it one knock it is that there are too many of the metal circles, I just carry the bag as a briefcase I do not rig it, so I dremeled a few off. Either way, a mentor of mine once said "Price is fleeting, but quality is everlasting.", I will bet dollars to donuts that this bag will be passed on to my son. I have no doubt this will last forever.
To be very clear I have always had tremendous success with every order from Saddleback. This briefcase is great. Not exceptional in function however. The previous "thin briefcase" made a few years ago made so much more sense with a divider internally and a mouse holder. The quality here is of course second to none and you get what you expect from Saddlebacks commitment to excellence. 700 dollars that I feel is very much worth it, albeit I do wish the internal partition was there. One other note for 15 inch computer users. There are pieces inside that prevent the laptop from just sliding right in. The internal pieces on the side require you to wiggle it into the bag. Again. LOVE the company's products. This one however needs some design work.
I've owned this work of art & craftsmanship for just over a month, but it's already been on 6 airplanes and it hasn't even started to get broken in yet. I'm an entrepreneur and have to constantly be in meetings and working at co-working offices or coffee shops (main office is at home), so I needed something that I can use for my every day carry (EDC) and also when I go on trips, I could basically bring my office with me. After one month of use, I will say that this company's reputation stands firm. I have owned many leather goods over the years, and this one is by far the highest quality leather item I've ever owned. I am also very impressed with how much stuff I can put in it. I realized that I needed to stretch it out a bit, so I fit in one of my wife's nursing books which is huge and heavy, a couple of journals in there as well and I let it sit for a couple of days. I did the same with the front pockets and the leather finally started to stretch to its real capacity.
The bag is very well made. It has some weight but is not as heavy as I was expecting. From my experience, typically messenger bags are not as structured. This bag is firm and will take awhile to loosen up. Great size and quality. Customer service is excellent.
