Our leather is the strongest we can find (full-grain leather). It still has all of the grain on it. We line the leather briefcase with pigskin for even more strength. The thread is unbelievably strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread, and our custom hardware is 316 Stainless Steel. It's the metal of choice when your life depends on it. Our Thin Front Pocket Briefcase is made out of the toughest, full-grain leather. This is the top layer of the hide and has all of the grain, making it tougher and more water-resistant. Most companies will use a cheaper, thinner leather that is easy to process and falls apart in a few years.
The natural color of Tobacco (tan, light brown) might be the most common. It has a casual look but develops a beautiful patina over time. Some people prefer a different style, so for those, we also offer this leather in Dark Coffee Brown and Chestnut (reddish brown).

I bought my first SBL bag almost 10 years ago. I have been in love, addicted and obsessed at first sight and smell! I received this bag for my birthday from my wife. She knew that I really wanted a briefcase to carry things to and from our new business. She did not have to search or research to know exactly which briefcase to get me. The leather is superb and that tobacco... that tobacco gets me every time. I love every single color, texture and feel. I have not owned another brand of bag since I held my first SBL. I have had this bag for years and had originally bought it to commemorate when I first entered healthcare. It has served me faithfully since. Till this day, I get compliments on it by passerbys. Leather wears over time, which is the beauty and crux of it. The wear I am referring to is the stretching of the leather holding the D-ring on the side meant for the strap. Parts that are likely to receive more stress are reinforced, whether by copper rivet, heavy stitching, or embedded nylon straps. I am disappointed that I cannot use the side D-ring to clip my strap on to without having the D-ring rotate out of position. I buy Saddleback products because I know they are quality products, but the few times they fell short of baseline expectations.

I have been looking into purchasing a Saddleback briefcase for a while. I thought I was going to go with the front pocket design due to the styling. I ended up ordering the thin front pocket briefcase because of the moving sale that Dave had. This briefcase is exactly what I need. Plenty of room for the full size notebook holder, a laptop, and my water bottle in the main compartment. I could fit additional folders or papers as well. The other pockets provide plenty of room for a portable charging battery, knives, pens, and anything else you may need to have nearby. The quality is exactly what I would expect from a company that offers a 100 year warranty.
Outstanding. I use this bag everyday and get compliments every time. Everyone wants it. There is nothing like it. With each use it breaks in a little better. One of my co-workers has the same bag. He said it looked so nice he was afraid to use it. After seeing how mine was breaking in, he decide to re-think his strategy.
