Materials Used in this Thin Leather Briefcase

Our leather is the strongest we can find (full-grain leather). It still has all of the grain on it. We line the leather briefcase with pigskin for even more strength. The thread is unbelievably strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread, and our custom hardware is 316 Stainless Steel. It's the metal of choice when your life depends on it. We consider every single detail when making a leather bag guaranteed to last 100 years.

Made with the Best Full Grain Leather

Our Thin Front Pocket Briefcase is made out of the toughest, full-grain leather. This is the top layer of the hide and has all of the grain, making it tougher and more water-resistant. Most companies will use a cheaper, thinner leather that is easy to process and falls apart in a few years.

The Different Colors of the Thin Front Pocket Briefcase

The natural color of Tobacco (tan, light brown) might be the most common. It has a casual look but develops a beautiful patina over time. Some people prefer a different style, so for those, we also offer this leather in Dark Coffee Brown and Chestnut (reddish brown).

D-Rings on the Bottom

The bottom of the thin leather briefcase has four d-rings that can be used to hold anything from your umbrella to a rolled blanket or tent and use it like a knapsack. Think outside the office, away from business; you can look professional or casual with this rugged leather briefcase. It is a great bag to have on your back when you go hiking, fishing, traveling, or into the office.

The Perfect Size Thin Leather Briefcase for a 15" or 16" Laptop

This slim leather briefcase is big enough to hold everything you need but not too big or bulky. The dimensions of this briefcase are 15" x 11" and only 3 1/2" thick, so it fits up to 16" laptops. We make larger bags, but not everyone is trying to carry a 17" laptop along with a gaming chair in their briefcase.

Perfect Amount of Pockets

These thin leather briefcases have a main compartment that is the perfect size for a 15" or 16" laptop and a notebook, with room for a few more books and Dude Wipes. Two inside pockets for pens and pencils. On the front there are two pockets that buckle closed, great for chargers, cables, etc. Behind those pockets are hidden pockets that make it easy access for smaller things.

Back Magazine Pocket

Yes, we even put a back magazine pocket in this briefcase. You know, when you are on that long flight and just want to unwind with some Field and Stream, or maybe you want to catch up on the latest National Geographic. Now you have a place to put it.

Detachable Shoulder Strap

Not everyone likes a shoulder strap on their leather briefcase, and sometimes you just need a quality thick strap of full grain leather for other things. So in our leather briefcases, we make the shoulder straps detachable and also adjustable. I can't tell you how many times I've used a bag strap to tie down luggage.

What Makes a Saddleback Leather Briefcase Worth It?

We care about much more than making money. Sure, that is required to keep a company running, but we care more about making quality leather goods. This is the reason we use only the highest quality materials, and the most durable construction methods possible. Making a difference is our goal in every life that we touch with our designs, so we take it seriously when we say that we will warranty your leather bag for 100 years. Think of it this way: when you buy a Saddleback Leather briefcase, sure, you're buying it for yourself... but you're really just breaking it in for whoever you plan on passing it down to.

    Exceptional design and functionality.

I have been a Saddleback customer for some time (circa 2007). I have three Classic Briefcases in varying colors and sizes. It is a well-crafted piece of art. But recently, Saddleback introduced the Thin Front Pocket Briefcase and I thought it was an intriguing design. But I passed on purchasing it. Then months later I decided to give it a try simply because sometimes I don't need the space of the Classic Briefcase for everyday office visit. So I ordered it in Tobacco. Jackpot! It is the perfect balance of artful design, functionality and weight. Every cleverly designed pocket is used; cigar holder, front pockets, hidden pockets behind front pockets (I use to carry Glock 27). I consistently receive compliments on the bag and asked where I got it. Saddleback should give at least 50 business cards with every purchase for customers to hand out during these conversations. If you are looking for a balanced briefcase, this is your choice. If you already own the Classic Briefcase, you owe it to yourself to add this to your collection.

    Perfect size and stylish

This is my second SB item. I had been searching for a replacement for my attache case for quite some time. The size is perfect to hold my 13" MacBook and cord and the file and books I need for most any day. The quality and attantion to detail are obvious upon opening the shipping box - also the smell of it is a great bonus. The new Carbon colour suits my vocation (Priest) without being too fussy. Next on my list is a case to carry around my hospital Eucharist kit and prayer books.

Lumberjack/pastor appreciates the quality and versatility

*4 and 1/2 stars. When I first opened the box of my thin front pocket in tobacco, I must say I was slightly disappointed at first. I am used to carrying and using the classic XL briefcase, and the way the handle is attached to the bag differs on both of them. On the classic, inside the bag, there is nothing to catch on because the aluminum bar is in between the pigskin and the cowhide, but on the thin briefcase, the aluminum is encased below the layer of pigskin. I suppose it is not that bad, especially because of the warranty, but I just feel that the ergonomics of the classic bag is a little better. The pictures on both reveal what I am talking about. I got the thin front pocket because my classic XL is simply a ginormous beast of a bag, and there was a lot of empty space in it. Now my thin front pocket is nicely packed full with everything I need and it doesn't look like I am moving to a different state every time I go to church. The only other thing I have an issue with is the cigar pocket. The buckle is attached to this tiny pocket and basically, the integrity of the entire bag being closed rests on this sewn-on pocket. Just as before, however, the warranty is impressive, and I believe that the quality of the bag will hold up in spite of the issues I have. I also wanted to see a tract in it but didn't. I once had a job tanning leather for "king Louie the V" myself, and I know that the quality of Saddleback Leather is absolutely of the highest grade. I am pretty hard on these types of things, generally speaking, and in any event, the bag is awesome and I am definitely keeping it.

    Excellent briefcase however...

However, I believe that there could be some improvements. This size of the bag is excellent for the light traveler and everyday use. But it's too small to use as a backpack, I'm not a large man at 5'11" I ordered the carbon black from the Dave's deals page and I can't notice anything misplaced or off with the bag, however the dye for carbon black has changed since my last purchase from SBL, and this case doesn't match the suitcase I have. One feature I would have loved to see on this bag that was on my suitcase, is the rolling metal bars on the buckles, and I know it's gonna take time to break in the leather, but with the rolling bars just makes for an easier transition from closed to open with the stiff leather. The front pockets are quite handy for keeping yourself organized on the go, but a major draw back is that when the main pocket is closed you cannot access the two front pockets. Inconvenient and handy at the same time?

    Great bag, great team!

I absolutely could not wait for the Breifcase. I was sooo iinpatient for the bag that I accidently had it mailed to the wrong address (purchased thru Amazon). The team at saddleback was great! They had the bag routed back to my house in days. Can I blame Saddleback for making me lust after the breifcase? Damn you Saddleback!! As for the Briefacase, It is worth the wait. I can honestly say it does feel like a quality bag. My bag arrived in perfect condition, and the tobacco is stunning! It leather is slightly stiff and looks like it will break in well. The seams were perfect, the hardware top notch, and the extra pockets on the front will come in handy.
