Our leather is the strongest we can find (full-grain leather). It still has all of the grain on it. We line the leather briefcase with pigskin for even more strength. The thread is unbelievably strong industrial marine grade UV resistant polyester thread, and our custom hardware is 316 Stainless Steel. It's the metal of choice when your life depends on it. We consider every single detail when making a leather bag guaranteed to last 100 years.
Our Thin Front Pocket Briefcase is made out of the toughest, full-grain leather. This is the top layer of the hide and has all of the grain, making it tougher and more water-resistant. Most companies will use a cheaper, thinner leather that is easy to process and falls apart in a few years.
The natural color of Tobacco (tan, light brown) might be the most common. It has a casual look but develops a beautiful patina over time. Some people prefer a different style, so for those, we also offer this leather in Dark Coffee Brown and Chestnut (reddish brown).

Not everyone likes a shoulder strap on their leather briefcase, and sometimes you just need a quality thick strap of full grain leather for other things. So in our leather briefcases, we make the shoulder straps detachable and also adjustable. I can't tell you how many times I've used a bag strap to tie down luggage.

This one will take me to retirement.
I could hardly wait for its arrival and when it finally did I was so impressed! The quality of this item is absolutely incredible. The smell of the leather reminds me of my childhood when things were made of real material and there was a certain pride in the quality of products made! My only concern is what looks like some loose stitching on the top corner of one of my front pockets? There seems to be some play and I am not sure it will hold as time goes on along with every day use. With that said I do not believe this to be a concurrent issue as the other pocket seems fine. Just a one time fluke?
You can bring a carryon AND a personal item on most flights for free, and this works great as a personal item. I can even fit a 16-inch, 2021 MacBook Pro in it, charger in the front pocket on one side, passport and wallet in the other. Back pocket works great for phone charger, etc. One incredibly minor downside is that the arm strap, if adjusted for easy arm carry, leaves a bit of a tongue hanging off. A second leather loop would solve that, but it's easy enough to tuck away and stops being annoying as you wear in the bag.
This thing is absolutely amazing. It has a separate section for a laptop within the main opening. Fits the right amount of stuff to be effective but not overburdened. Top notch quality.
Although in many ways this is the most stylish briefcase I own from Saddleback, it's also my least used one. The reason for that is not necessarily because it's the thinnest one and so it holds the least amount of objects (although that is a part of it), the main reason is because it lacks a protective pigskin flap/compartment for the laptop. I wouldn't go anywhere with a bag like this without my laptop and the fact that it will have to scratch up against everything else in the bag isn't ideal. My Flight/Pilot briefcase from Saddleback gets a LOT more use because it has that separate compartment for the laptop. That said, if all you need is a space for the laptop, a notepad and some soft stuff like gloves and a scarf, this is the ideal bag for it.
