Read MoreThe high-quality materials used in this leather portfolio make it worth the investment. The full grain leather is extremely tough and water-resistant, while the pigskin lining is even stronger than the cowhide used for the outer layer. The German industrial marine grade polyester thread is extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear. The stitching is done in such a way that avoids any damage or tearing to the leather. Think about the number of great first impressions you'll make carrying this portfolio.
---Imagine the cow is killed and skinned. Imagine that... Now the thick hide goes to the tannery, but it's so thick that the tannery splits it in half, the top from the bottom, and now has two hides to sell. The top hide has all of the grain on it (Full Grain). All of the real tough and water resistant dense fibers. Grain is to a hide of leather what shingles are to a roof. Leather portfolios and padfolios made with this leather will last at least a few generations. And we use thick full grain leather. Thicker than boot leather.
---The bottom half is a hide called Split or Genuine leather. It dries out quickly and stains easily because the protective layer of grain is gone. Low quality leather padfolio makers will stick some lipstick on that leather and sell you a nice and pretty leather portfolio tomorrow.
---We glue and sew pigskin lining to the back of that already tough full grain leather. And pigskin is stronger than cowskin. This makes our leather portfolios twice as strong as a typical full grain leather portfolio.
---We sew our leather portfolio with an extremely strong German industrial marine grade polyester that won't fall apart or wear away easily. They use this German thread when it just has to last, or someone could die, like for parachutes and sails on ships. And our thread for the padfolio is the thick double ought version.
---A sewing machine is actually a perforation machine. If the needle holes are too close together, then the leather of the portfolio will tear like a perforated piece of paper. So, we sew at no more than five stitches per inch, which gets the holes further apart from each other on the padfolio.
---The side that holds the paper is only sewn on the right and bottom sides of the portfolio. It's designed to slide in a typical 8 ½ x 11 letter size, European A4 notepad from above or a spiral notebook from the side since that flap is sewn only on two sides.
---This leather portfolio is built with just one solid piece of leather to reduce seams. This is because seams are where, if there's going to be a problem, it will begin there. Yes, we took every detail into account to make this sleek notebook holder perfect.
Former boss had this notepad holder and from the moment I saw him using it I wanted one. I now own the medium chestnut version and I am extremely happy with it. When I bring it into meetings, it is without a doubt the nicest notepad holder in the room. As a young professional, I wanted something that I would be able to carry with me for a long time. After using this for a few months I can say that its definately worth the investment.

I bought 10 medium notepads for our sales force . These are very nice and rugged. For some strange reason the inner pigskin of the notepads is marked permanently with dark brown substance....looks dirty and unattractive. Very disappointed . It is not removable as it seems part of the pigskin. Oh well, the rest of it is nice. I have to settle.

I started with buying a Belt and my wife an I-Pad cover, loved both of them. Now I just bought the Small and Medium Notepad, both in Chestnut, I love both of them!!!!!! I think next will be a briefcase/bag for work.

Over the last 2-3 years I bought: a wallet (black), briefcase (coffee), belt (coffee), large desk pad (chestnut), and notepad holder (chestnut). None of these purchases were made lightly -- I'm a very careful consumer. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of these products. They are truly made to last a lifetime. My wallet is nearly 3 years old, I use it daily, and it still looks brand new. My briefcase is showing some wear but, as expected, it adds to the attractiveness of the product. The only very slight regret I have is that I probably should have chosen a chestnut briefcase and black notepad holder (not the current black, but the black they use to offer -- like my wallet).

I'm officially a Saddleback junky, now. This is my fifth accessory I have bought from Dave's company, and I am very happy with it. I purchased the chestnut Medium notepad holder. The notepad holder (abbreviated NPH henceforth) is very sturdy and beautiful out of the box. It does have the logo ont he front, which I like. The interior is equally beautiful and functional. Two things I'd like to point out that are differences between the medium and small NPHs. The small has a pocket behind the notepad and a similar pocket on the opposite internal side. The small also has 4 rivets. The medium has neither. While there are two large pockets on the left and two small pockets, there is no pocket behind the notepad. Also, there is only one rivet in the medium. Not a problem, but just a difference I want to point out. The NPH is heavy compared to other similar products, but the quality is obvious durability. The large outter surface of the NPH will get scuffed, but (to me) that builds character. If you want it to look pristine and without a scratch, go with a different company. The pockets are well placed. You will likely have to stretch them a bit upon first use. The pen holder is out of the way and functional. The first time I put a notepad in the NPH, I had to force it a bit. Again, the next insertion showed the leather stretched a little. Sturdy, beautiful, funtional, styish, eye-catching. Standard Saddleback.
