Dimensions (W x H x D)
- Sizing true to Brannock Device
- Boot sizes are men's size
I always tell my son, Cross, when you go to make something, try to make the best one in the world. I’m not saying that our boots are the best in the world. That would be absurd and very arrogant to say, but I want my son to know that his dad tried. And now you know too.
Saddleback’s patent-pending custom Good Sole is one of the longest-lasting, most resistant, highest performing, and most functional rubber soles that we would make. Our boots can be resoled over and over and over and over and over again without wearing out the welt. How is your sole?
Highly Resistant:
• Strong Abrasion Resistance - Rubber doesn’t rub away easily - 80 hardness on the heel, 70 hardness on the half sole and with a shock absorbing 60 hardness layer between the leather and where the 70 hardness rubber meets the road.
• Oil Resistant - Don’t absorb oil from the street easily
• Chemical Resistant - Don’t absorb chemicals easily
• Resistant to UV breakdown
• Resistant to oxidation
Highly Flexible:
• Have lively rebound so they push your foot back up with every step
• Great grip in cold and wet conditions
• Don’t harden and get brittle
• Don’t tear or crack in cold weather or on rocks
• Don’t build up heat on hot pavement
• Don’t get soft or deform in the heat
This small detail is probably just a 5% improvement in comfort. But you won’t even appreciate it unless you’re on your feet a lot. Say goodbye to sore feet.
Shock Absorbing Front Half Sole
The harder the rubber, the longer the sole lasts. The softer the rubber, the faster it wears away. Our patent-pending soles have the best of both worlds. We have a softer 60/100 hardness shock absorbing layer beneath a harder 70/100 hardness abrasion resist layer where the rubber meets the road.
Tougher Absorbing Heel
We have an 80 hardness rubber heel because that is where most abrasion and pressure occur and the shock is absorbed by the stack of leather below it. And the rubber is screwed down deep into the leather.
To add to the comfort, the shoe last that the leather is wrapped around and that gives the shoe its look is based on the first of six generations of the anatomically correct military Munson last, which was designed for all-day comfort when standing and marching day after day. We gave ours a better-looking toe upgrade. Hundreds of millions of US soldiers wore these boots from 1912 to about 1970 because they stopped so much of their pain. We just made them even more comfortable.
A Civil Yet Chiseled Look
20% difference maker to me. You can see the tread along the edges. This tread is not too aggressive, like a logging boot, nor is it too tame, like a flat rubber sole. The lugs are exactly the right height and width, and with just the right amount of angle and chiseled shape to give the boot a chiseled and stout look.
