    LOVE this Backpack!!

Built like a TANK, the all-new(2019) Squared backpack is a forever bag in my collection!!! Leather backpacks can be on the heavy side, but with Saddleback reducing the weight by nearly 3 pounds from the previous model makes this backpack a comfortable, lightweight carry. I can’t say enough about this bag... I highly recommend it!!

As Tom Cruise said in "Top Gun" "... it's looking good so far."

Well, I didn't win the New Tank backpack raffle. So I got up early and fired up the computer and ordered one for the first issue. The new Tank arrived this afternoon - 001-010 Black. Plus a key fob gratis, and a personal note from El Presidente Dave written on a leather scrap. Nice touch. I had many questions before purchasing - so I'll share with you now that it has arrived. I've ordered some other SBL products - more on that later. Quality - I think many people who post to "Review" have a burr under their saddle. They are anxious to post their fault finding. No fault found here. High quality. I love leather, and smell of leather products. Again, no fault here. Weight. No problem here. About same weight as my present brief bag. Size. Just fine. Think of turning your brief bag 90 degrees. Side pockets. I always have a coffee travel mug in my present brief bag. When I go through airport security I merely remove the lid and carry the mug empty - then refill at a kiosk past security. No problem here. Diameter size fits fine. I will either need to get a slightly shorter mug to buckle the flap, or tuck the flap into the pocket behind the side pocket. 16 oz plastic water bottle? Flap buckles fine. Front pocket. Fits the SBL medium leather portfolio. Inside: Back divider - fits my MacBook Air. Front of divider - has side small pockets on each of left and right sides to hold what nots. Has a tether strap with snap hook for keys or other what nots. This space is deep enough to hold a good quantity of files / folders / book. And important to me - my good Canon camera when I want to take better photos than merely with my iPhone My use will be as a substitute of my work brief bag. I will need to purchase the luggage strap for when traveling through airports. I will need to figure out a shoulder strap for over one shoulder carry, which will be much more useful to me for daily use than back pack straps. Maybe I can make those straps work for me somehow. Would have preferred they be removable. My solutions are either cut off, or tuck into bag - awkward. I will need to purchase some of the organizers in the SBL catalog to hold my charger cords, adapters, pens, etc. Other products I have purchased and like. Both medium and small portfolios. I've purchased them for good clients of my law firm and had clients' full name laser engraved on the front, and my logo discretely inside. Passport wallet - same. I found a wonderful lady who does wonders for my laser engraving needs. For Christmas I purchased the Doctor's Leather Duffle for my son who had just finished 10 years as a Navy pilot and started as an American Airlines pilot. The bag is beautiful. My question and his was would it fit in the bag space next to his seat. Pilots don't need a seaman's trunk for airport charts anymore - they have everything on an iPad. So only require a small bag space. I haven't gotten answer yet. I've told him he could exchange it. Or now that I have seen the Tank, I will offer it to him if he wants it. Or offer him an order. I want to keep 001/010. Its beautiful. I'm going to check with my engraver to see if she can put my firm logo front and center on the front flap. Mark Hanson Des Moines, Iowa

Buy Tank 2.0 now! New design is great for every day carry!

I'm an avid collector of Tank backpacks (cyclops, old logo and script logo) and initially thought the changes would not be to my liking, but hold the presses! My wife bought a few of the Tank 2.0 and had an extra one in chestnut that she gave to me. WOW, I am impressed with the design where that distinctive Tank look is still there and the reduced weight is really noticeable. The padded strap is perfect and not too small. I've seen all the colors and they are fantastic. I was surprisingly blown away by the black one. Wonderful job SBL!

    Great backpack! Lots of space!

Got is a week ago. Was planning to wait for the Tank to become available. But then decided to go for the Squared. I think this one is more of a backpack, due to its less structured design, and I love it so far.

I transcribe for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing at a very large university. I needed a backpack that was comfortable, large, had pockets for organization, yet was stylish.

This backpack exceeds my expectations. The side pockets are huge. My 15” laptop fits beautifully. DCB is my new favorite color. It’s a striking looking bag with beautiful lines. It’s six pounds, so I was worried it would be too heavy for me at 5’5”, but it is extremely comfortable on my back. I like the thinner straps versus the thicker padded ones, but I’m thankful they come with the bag in case I need them. I highly recommend this bag for anyone who carries a lot on a daily basis!
