We only use the toughest leather we can get (thick full-grain leather), the highest grade of hide you can buy, to make all of our leather laptop bags. The grain is the toughest and most water-resistant part of the hide. So when companies sand or split off the top part of the hide to get rid of scars and blemishes so they can use up more of the hide, they're getting rid of the toughest part.
Yes, full-grain leather is the quarterback getting all of the attention. But the other materials we use is what the over-engineering thing is all about. We line our leather briefcases with pigskin, which is more durable than the full-grain leather. The hardware is the ridiculous 316 stainless steel (rated to hold up to 750 lbs). We sew everything together with a UV-resistant marine-grade polyester thread (it's the same exact threat that's used to sew together ship sails and parachutes... you know, things your life depends on).
This thin leather laptop bag is our smallest leather briefcase and is wide enough to fit any 14" MacBook Pro or laptop. The 2019 15" Macbook Pro fits in the main compartment but not inside the soft laptop sleeve pocket. Two interior flat front pockets to hold a charger, pens, cables, and papers. There aren't a lot of features and functionality, but that's on purpose. It's just a simple briefcase that is the perfect size for your smaller laptops.

This is the perfect laptop bag for a MacBook Pro 13 in. It's too small to be the primary everyday work briefcase. But it makes sense as a laptop bag, as it easily holds the laptop, small gadget bag, pens/pencils, and a legal pad and comp book. Great addition to my SBL lineup.
Just got my Saddleback Leather Thirteener in Chestnut. First off, let me say that this bag looks AMAZING!!! You can tell from the moment you pick up the BOX that it's a quality item... it's heavy, and the smell of leather really comes through. The construction on the bag is top notch, per usual with anything Saddleback. Pockets are as advertised and do hold my 13 inch Dell XPS, a Murdy Creative binder, small book, and charging cables well. If you're looking for something with a lot of pockets and whatnot, this isn't it. It's a solidly built leather bag with no parts that appear to be breakable. It is however, slightly smaller than I expected... which is to say that it's a great size to ensure that I only bring the things I really need. I tend to overpack, so this bag will help me re-examine what I'm bringing with me. I'm sure this bag will stand the test of time, and who knows, maybe it'll be the start of me buying more (read LARGER, re-read MORE EXPENSIVE) Saddleback bags in the future.

Hands down the best-made anything I've ever purchased. I just wish I'd opted for the larger case as I love this one and try to stuff too much in it and use it all the time. It is great but designed for smaller trips with less stuff. I'm shopping again for its bigger brother.
Love this bag. Orignally I thought it was going to be too small, but now that the leather is softening up some, it's able to hold everything I need with no issues.
