Read MoreThe high-quality materials used in this leather portfolio make it worth the investment. The full grain leather is extremely tough and water-resistant, while the pigskin lining is even stronger than the cowhide used for the outer layer. The German industrial marine grade polyester thread is extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear. The stitching is done in such a way that avoids any damage or tearing to the leather. Think about the number of great first impressions you'll make carrying this portfolio.
---Imagine the cow is killed and skinned. Imagine that... Now the thick hide goes to the tannery, but it's so thick that the tannery splits it in half, the top from the bottom, and now has two hides to sell. The top hide has all of the grain on it (Full Grain). All of the real tough and water resistant dense fibers. Grain is to a hide of leather what shingles are to a roof. Leather portfolios and padfolios made with this leather will last at least a few generations. And we use thick full grain leather. Thicker than boot leather.
---The bottom half is a hide called Split or Genuine leather. It dries out quickly and stains easily because the protective layer of grain is gone. Low quality leather padfolio makers will stick some lipstick on that leather and sell you a nice and pretty leather portfolio tomorrow.
---We glue and sew pigskin lining to the back of that already tough full grain leather. And pigskin is stronger than cowskin. This makes our leather portfolios twice as strong as a typical full grain leather portfolio.
---We sew our leather portfolio with an extremely strong German industrial marine grade polyester that won't fall apart or wear away easily. They use this German thread when it just has to last, or someone could die, like for parachutes and sails on ships. And our thread for the padfolio is the thick double ought version.
---A sewing machine is actually a perforation machine. If the needle holes are too close together, then the leather of the portfolio will tear like a perforated piece of paper. So, we sew at no more than five stitches per inch, which gets the holes further apart from each other on the padfolio.
---The side that holds the paper is only sewn on the right and bottom sides of the portfolio. It's designed to slide in a typical 8 ½ x 11 letter size, European A4 notepad from above or a spiral notebook from the side since that flap is sewn only on two sides.
---This leather portfolio is built with just one solid piece of leather to reduce seams. This is because seams are where, if there's going to be a problem, it will begin there. Yes, we took every detail into account to make this sleek notebook holder perfect.
What can I say, I bought the small version and immediately ordered the medium. I commented on the small previously, so now I'll focus on the medium. This is perfect for anyone who wishes to be professional and stay stylish at the same time... basically, there isn't any "stuffiness" of a businessman with this one. It is the right size for a pad of paper and another 40-50 sheets in the folder part. The only down side would be with the front divider. It is smaller than the rear, so you can't fit as much in it as you might prefer. The fix you ask? Use a binder for the majority of you EXTRA paperwork and use this for those meetings we all love going to and only carry what you need to. Brilliant design by Dave and his crew. This is the third product I own...and look forward to more purchases in the very near future.

Ordered small notepad holder on Tuesday evening - it arrived on following Thursday. Can't say much more than already's been said. Purchased the classic briefcase several years ago and wouldn't trade it for anything I've seen on the market. In addition to the extreme quality of workmanship and materials, as a pastor I appreciate what the company stands for. All good when dealing with Saddleback.

I have been a Saddleback fan for several years now. The company makes high quality products, and I respect its commitment to excellence. I have a DCB briefcase, macbook sleeve, waterbag, and wallet, all of which I purchased before they made the switch. I really dislike the new light pigskin though, and can't stand this new notepad. It simply doesn't match the rest of my set. Really disappointing - will be sending back. I don't think I can buy any more DCB items, which is sad to me.

I am a narcotics investigator on a multi-jurisdictional Federal, State, and Local drug task force--needless to say, I conduct a LOT of interviews, briefings, and debriefings. My wonderful wife purchased this for me for my birthday, as I have always had an attraction to real, good leather. It accommodates my papers, schedule, and voice recorder with ease. I don't know how I have gone through life without this - durable, classy, perfectly designed and the ultimate companion on my day to day activities. This being my first Saddleback product has guaranteed more to come. Thank you!

I ordered a Dark Coffee Brown larger notepad holder about 8 months ago and LOVE it! My wife loves it too and ordered one in Tobacco color for herself. It was a limp noodle compared to my nice firm(ish) Coffee Brown holder. Thin, too soft, limp, like it was a different model all together. I'm awesome fashion, Saddleback Leather allowed me to return it and we proceeded to purchase another Dark Coffee Brown for my wife. The new one arrived and it had light tan pig skin interior even though the pictures show brown pig skin that matches the exterior. So now I have a 2 tone notepad holder holds it's shape more like the original I purchased but not as much as I'd like it to. So get this, now my wife gives me the look, and says she would like mine and I can use the new 2 tone one that just arrived. You guessed it... Now she has the original one that started this whole thing and started my love for Saddleback Leather and I am left holding the OK one that I don't feel I will return sine I like it, don't love it, but done really want to deal with the hassle or returning another. The quality control of Saddleback Leather is much poorer than I ever expected. It saddens me that I am not likely to buy another product from a company I love so much (I have purchased 6). I don't feel comfortable buying something that differs so greatly from one to another and might not look like what the picture shows you are buying.
