Leather Tow Belt in Kotor, Montenegro
I have 2 old bull belts but wanted a belt in the tobacco color so i had to get a tow belt. WOW this thing is thick! You really could tow something with it. I havent worn it yet, but I imagine it might take a little while to break in like me other 2 SBL belts but I expect it to be just as great. If you want a super HEAVY DUTY belt, get this one.
This is what a belt should be...classy, strong, thick enough to not just hold up your pants but also anything you want to strap to it. Bought two in different colors and would not even look for another belt as these are the best I have seen even among custom made belts.
So I've bought so many Saddleback products that my family has considered staging an intervention. From bags, pouches, office gear, etc I've owned much of what Saddleback has produced. This one is a major letdown. The other reviews are correct in saying that the holes at the end of the belt are a huge downside. It allows for 0 flexibility as the years go by and severely limits the "lifetime" function of this belt. For a company that prides themselves as having a 100 year warranty this belt seems shockingly shortsighted. The upside is that the company seems prone to change and improve their products based on functionality so there's hope that this will eventually be remedied. My advice is to wait until a new and improved version of this belt is produced and then buy it. That's what I'm waiting for as I send my belt back for a refund.
When I was considering this belt, my wife asked why it was called a "tow belt." I told her that it should be strong enough to pull something if I ever needed to (clearly making it an absolute necessity). This is most certainly the case. I've been very impressed with the quality. It's noticeably heavier than any belt I've ever owned and the hardware feels very high quality. It is much thicker than other belts which was a bit unusual at first but I quickly became accustomed to it. This was my first purchase from Saddleback and I was very happy with the product and service. Email communication was good. Delivery was fast. Product is excellent. I seriously doubt I will ever need to take advantage of the outstanding warranty - but it's nice to have just in case.
Perfect thickness. Great (INGENIOUS) adjustability from the buckle end, not the pointy tip end. Brilliant, I tell you. I have a black one and a brown one since I am old-fashioned and like my belt to match my boots. I guess I have had these belts for three or four years now and I wear one or the other almost every day. I do have one complaint about Saddleback Leather Co.; they have made it impossible for me to spend money with any other company on leather goods. So I will say, like I heard one other person in a belt review say, I would purchase another black and another brown belt made by Saddleback Leather Co. if they were 1.25 inches wide for dress pants. All the dress pants belts I look at suck eggs now that I have my Saddleback belts. Thanks Dave!
