Read MoreThe reason you'll compliment us is because of the little details in the design. For instance, when the leather wallet is closed, I wanted it to be equally thick at the top as it is on the bottom (where all of the credit cards and papers and layers of pockets are stacked). So I put the thick coin purse on the top right to counter the thin top left side. This resulted in two parallel sides to make our leather wallet balanced when it is closed. And a small detail, but a big one; the ID window does not have plastic, which eventually gets cloudy, cracks and then tears apart. This leather wallet's pen holder can hold thick or standard thickness pens because of the design. Both the coin purse and the main closure have two holes to secure when it's empty or very full. There is an outside pocket to quickly stow away a paper instead of opening the wallet to put them away. And passports fit just fine.
---The reason cashiers and friends will compliment you on this wallet is because the Full Grain leather ages so gorgeously. This wallet was built with full-grain leather. All leather naturally has a grain which is the tough fibers and pores located at the surface of the hide. Some companies shave some or all of the grain off to get rid of any scars (watch how they shave it here minute 6:30) the cow may have gotten in his life. But the grain is the toughest part of the hide and what makes the leather patina so nicely and last so long. When they shave it, it's called top grain leather. When they remove the grain, it's called genuine leather. And they do it so can make a wallet without cutting around any scars which results in a lot of wasted expensive leather. It's why full-grain leather is so expensive.
Just received my wallet. It's gorgeous. I carry everything in my wallet. Checkbook, cards, receipts, and I never have enough room. This wallet holds everything. I feel so organized. It's my first piece of saddleback leather, and I'm sure it will be the first of many.. Amazing quality...

I've been debating whether I actually NEEDED one of these Big Wallets for several months, as I've been using a Wilsons travel wallet for over 10 years. Meanwhile, my Saddleback collection continues to grow, and after seeing this come up on a Dave's Deal I just went ahead and clicked and bought it. I already had Saddleback gear in DCB and Chestnut, and I've been wanting to get something in Tobacco Brown, as I think it looks awesome as it ages. Being a Saddleback fan, I know how they way overbuild everything, but this Big Wallet is just amazing. I think all the layers of leather at their thickest point are over 3/4 of an inch thick! I can't imagine how they can manage to get this sewn together, but they did, and this thing looks like it will last forever. As usual, I had to look real close to find what they perceived as the flaw that made it a Dave's Deal. Before I loaded it up with all my airline, hotel and rental car cards I bent and worked it over to try to remove at least some of the initial stiffness, with some success. To sum up this review: 1) You've never seen a wallet like this. When you first hold it in your hands you'll be amazed. 2) There's no way this will fit in a pocket, unless it's maybe a big overcoat, and even then it would be awkward. 3) It's going to take up significant space in your briefcase, purse, or whatever you plan to use to carry it, so bear that in mind. 4) Go ahead and get one. If you wait and get one in a year or two, it'll just take that much longer to get it broken-in and looking cool.

This wallet was a Valentine's gift from my Saddleback obsessed husband. I have the dark coffee brown, which goes with my Bible cover too... it's a deep rich color, my absolute favorite. It's beautiful, and smells amazing. My wallets get used hard--and this is the first one I've ever had that has a respectable number of pockets for everything I carry, which is thrilling. The workmanship is incredible. I've joked several times since having it that I'm more terrified to lose the wallet than I am to lose my ID and credit/debit cards inside it. Which is as true as it is ridiculous, but this wallet really is that amazing. That being said, my only complaint about it is that if I'm running a quick errand to the grocery store or whatever most of the time I will just shove my wallet in my jacket pocket and head out the door--with this wallet I cannot do that because it is so large. I wish it came with a small strap option that I could loop through the pen holder in the middle so I could just wear it cross body for quick trips so I don't have to clutch it like a crazy person while selecting apples and bananas, and feel all panicky every time I set it down for a half second. My husband may regret buying me this incredible wallet, because he doesn't realize it, but totes in black and tan are next on my list... hehehehehe! Thanks Saddleback for an epic wallet.

I have had the same wallet since 2005. It was really falling apart, but I couldn't find a perfect replacement... and after searching for a couple years I discovered Saddleback. This wallet is AMAZING. All of my cards and cash are nice and snug so I don't feel like anything will fall out. Plenty of pockets and spaces to organize everything I need to take with me. Works great to throw in my purse, but then grab when I run into a store. The construction is unbeatable- with the best part being, I won't have to search for another wallet- cause this bad boy is NOT falling apart!!

Before I bought my messenger bag I'd watched the videos over and over again trying to decide which colour was right for me. I ended up going with Dark Coffee Brown. When I was looking for a travel wallet and decided to get the Big Wallet, on a whim I thought I'd try tobacco even though it was my least favourite colour. I thought there's no way I'm going to be seen carrying something that... yellow. Well, the Big Wallet in tobacco arrived, and I could not believe how wrong I was about the colour. It's darker than it seems on camera, more of a rich, velvety caramel. From now on I'm sticking to tobacco, it's just gorgeous. The wallet itself is as described - heavy duty, robust, it turns up ready to put in the hard yards. So far it's holding my passport, frequent flyer cards, international driver's permit, express passes, foreign currency and receipts, and there's still tons of room to spare. It's big, heavy, solid, a diamond in the rough... but it looks great, feels great in the hand, holds everything you got and then some.
