Best minimalist leather wallet

First off, I’ve noticed a lot of reviews bashing the new design for the cash slot in the middle or thinking it’s an error on the part of Saddleback. I get it. It’s a new design you’ve never seen before and it looks like it would fail at holding anything. But to be quite honest, the redesigned money slot is the reason I regard this wallet as the best minimalist wallet I’ve EVER owned. I’ve tried many many wallets from different brands, Kickstarter, etc. None have come close to the quality, ease of use and aesthetic of this wallet. I was slightly skeptical about the opening on the bottom side of the cash slot, but personally I’ve never had anything fall out or come even close to falling out for the past 2 months of use. Remember, it’s an all leather wallet and the pigskin (along with the unique stitching) does a good job gripping cash/receipts that I put into the slot. I’ve tried some wallets with wacky designs for the cash slot and none can compare to the genius simple design of this wallet. Let’s be realistic, a wallet fully stitched on all three sides means you have to fold your bills/receipts a couple of times and struggle to put them in and out. Not only that, but the wallet starts to bulge with just a few bills. With this new design, I have many bills/receipts in the middle and it still maintains a relatively flat profile. Putting and taking out bills/receipts in this wallet takes seconds and it’s so easy to find what you need. It just works which is the reason I don’t think about it when I use it. There are so many wallets online you can buy with the three sides fully stitched if you’re used to that kind of thing. This is something innovative and you might actually come to appreciate it if you give it a chance. Normally don’t write reviews, but just wanna let the folks at Saddleback know to keep this design, even if they decide to make another one with all three sides fully stitched like the older version

I was just explaining to someone how I’ve had this wallet for ten years and figured I should write a review to commemorate the anniversary. This is by far the best wallet I’ve ever owned. The quality is impeccable and it holds everything I need perfectly. I’m a minimalist and only carry about 5 cards, my license, and no cash. Unlike other leather wallets I’ve owned, this one looks better now than the day I got it. The edges of the leather still look great since they weren’t painted like other wallets.

In short, I have absolutely no doubt that this thing will outlive me by at least half a century.

Front Pocket Wallet Design

front pocket wallet is a must-have accessory for any man. This minimalist wallet was designed to be unnoticeable in the front pocket. To give it the smallest profile of any wallet like it, I designed it with the top and side unsewn so cash folds and then slides in and is easy to pull out without pulling out your whole wad.

There are two card slots to stack up to 5 or 6 cards after the leather stretches. So you have one spot for cards or a fishing license behind the ID window and then space enough to slide cards in behind the ID. That’s where I keep a folded up $20 bill that my wife can’t find, just in case.

Materials Used To Make The Best Front Pocket Wallets

Everyone knows Saddleback Leather Co is all about over-engineering, made to last. We can do this because we do not go cheap on our materials to make the best leather wallet.

Minimalist wallets are perfect for everyday carry. They are compact and can easily hold cash, a few cards, and your ID. You don't need an integrated bottle opener, so you can focus on having a minimalist wallet that meets your needs.

Lining the front pocket wallet -

Instead of using a thin, shiny, pretty nylon fabric for wallet lining, we line this leather wallet with real pigskin, which is tougher than cow leather. That attached to our super tough full grain leather is how we can offer a 100-year Warranty.

Thread in our front pocket wallet -

We sewed it with a marine-grade polyester continuous filament thread, which is strong and resistant. This type of thread is used to sew ship sails and parachutes because it cannot break easily. Even though it costs more than nylon thread, this kind will last much longer.

Leather, the most critical part of the best front pocket wallets -

Cashiers will compliment you on your front pocket leather wallet because we made it with full grain, so it ages way more nicely because it still has all of the pores on it.

The best front pocket ID wallet for everyday carry is the one that is slim and compact with enough space to store your ID, cards, and cash.

The quality of this wallet is unrivaled because it is made from full grain leather. I’ll explain why that matters. A cow hide is similar to a roof in that it has a protective top layer of shingles (or full grain leather) that keeps the water and dirt out and protects what’s underneath. Low level manufacturers shave off the top layer to get rid of scars, which results in them not having to throw away valuable leather. They don’t care about quality; they just want to profit. But, while they’re doing it, it’s like they’re removing your roof shingles. Isn’t it awful? They neuter the leather and strip it of its leatherhood, the hardiness that makes leather so popular. You get this when you purchase genuine (or split) leather. We use full grain leather; we don’t sand or remove any grain. It’s a shame to take away what made your product special! A full grain leather wallet is not easy to come by and not cheap to build.

How I hide my emergency cash from my wife in my wallet

I have a wonderful wife. I really do, BUT the one thing she used to do that caused many a fight was take the cash out of my wallet without mentioning it. You know, if the pizza guy was at the door and my wallet was anywhere near, she would pull all of the cash I had in there to pay the guy instead of walking over to her wallet to use her cash. So what I started to do was to tuck an emergency $20 bill in the slot behind the ID window so I would always have cash with me for cash only parking lots or tipping of some sort. But she found that cash too and would clean me out.

I’m generally a pretty nice and mild mannered guy, but not after I had to repark the car and walk to an ATM to get cash to get out of the parking lot because all of my cash was gone out of my wallet. And there was always a really good excuse too. Now I know why my dad would get so upset at my mom for doing the exact same thing for their whole marriage.

So now here’s what I do. And since Suzette doesn’t read anything I write or talk about or watch any of my videos, I can tell you this great tip and she’ll never know. So, I put cash in the normal cash part of this wallet and I also “hide” a $20 bill in the secret slot behind the ID window. And she knows about that hidden money. But she has no clue about the extra cash I hide behind my Driver’s License right in the ID window of this wallet. I’ve been stashing cash there for about 7 years and she still has no idea. And you can do it in your wallet too.

Minimalist Wallets as an Everyday Carry Compact Wallet

Less is more when you are going for a minimalist wallet. Some other front pocket wallets did not understand the assignment. They build their wallets with ten pockets to hold up to seven cards each and a thousand dollar bills. That is not how you make the best minimalist wallet.

Our front pocket wallets do not require a bra to support them. We know what you want. You want to safely and unnoticeably carry cash, a few bills, a few cards, and your ID and fishing or hunting license. You don’t need an integrated bottle opener. You care more about it being a minimalist wallet.

A Great Front Pocket Wallet

We didn’t go overboard on features on our front pocket wallet. We understood the assignment in this design. It is highly functional in what it should do as a minimalist wallet. It should hold a few folded bills, an ID and a few cards. It should also be extremely thin. This slim wallet fits the bill over any other front pocket wallet. It has just enough storage space to carry your ID, a few cards, and some pocket money in the cash compartment. It is also the perfect size to fit any front pocket without being too noticeable.

Benefits of a Front Pocket Wallet over a Back Pocket Wallet

First off, it is more secure. Your front pocket is much harder for a pickpocket to access without you noticing.

Second, it is more comfortable. Even though we make the best back pocket wallets, they can still be a little bulky. If you sit on your wallet all day, it is better to have a smaller, more comfortable front pocket wallet.

Third, it keeps your spine in alignment. If you carry your wallet in your back pocket, it can cause problems with your sciatic nerve and lower back pain. Carrying your wallet in your front pocket helps keep your spine aligned and can prevent these issues. We make a great slim bifold wallet if you love the back pocket bifold design, but give this a try. You are probably going to fall in love with this front pocket wallet.

The Best Front Pocket ID Wallet for Everyday Carry

Look no further if you are shopping for a great minimalist wallet that you can use every day. This is the best front pocket wallet for anyone looking for a more slim and compact design. It has just enough space to store your ID, a few cards in the card slots, and cash, and it’s lightweight. It was designed to hold some money like a money clip without the clip for easy, quick access. And unlike other wallets, this is made of high quality leather, not just genuine leather or top grain leather. The best front pocket wallets are made of full grain leather to last. So toss your other wallet with its cracks and smells and try the best quality wallet money can buy.

Disadvantages of a Front Pocket Wallet

While there are many advantages to using a front pocket wallet, there are also a few disadvantages.

The main disadvantage is that it will not hold hundreds of useless faded receipts, old business cards, and movie stubs from 2004 like your current wallet. It is designed to streamline what you are carrying with you daily. Get a box or trash can if you want a place to store all your unnecessary junk.

Another disadvantage, some people might think, is that it doesn’t have a place for a photo of your kids or dog. But we believe that is an advantage. If you are carrying around a picture of your kids, you are probably not paying attention to them and should put the wallet away. However, if desired, you could fit one behind your license with that emergency cash.

The Final Reason to get a Saddleback Front Pocket Wallet

We make the best front pocket wallets because we understand that less is more. This minimalist wallet, just like our  Leather Card Wallet has just enough storage for what you need on a daily basis. It is also made of high quality materials to last you a lifetime. So ditch your old, bulky wallet for something more slim and comfortable. Your back will thank you.

    Front pocket ID wallet
Nice wallet but would be awesome if it were sewn on three sides leaving a pocket in the middle so you could store cash without losing it.

    Regretable loss
Even had I looked closely online, the ruination would have been unclear; who buys a tunnel, mistaking it for a pocket? I did, and it's on the way back. Unbelievably bad redesign!
