Read MoreThis leather wallet was built with what is called full grain leather. The grain is the most durable part of the hide and it's basically like the shingles of a roof. It ages richly and is very water resistant. But most designers or manufacturers are told to save as much money as possible making their wallets and so need to use every inch of the leather hide. Instead of cutting around the scars and blemishes and throwing 25% of the leather into the trash, the tannery shaves off the top layer with all of the scars and slight imperfections so they can use almost 100% of the hide to make leather wallets. The problem is that they shave off the shingles of your house; the toughest part of the hide. And that's why you're looking for the best leather wallet now. They become junk and fall apart in a short time (5 - 10 years).
---As if our leather wasn't enough, we line our wallets with pigskin, which is tougher than the cow leather. It's how we can offer a 100-year Warranty. And then we sew it with our special German marine grade polyester thread. It's what they sew parachutes and ship sails with. If a life depends on the seams not falling apart, they use the same thread. In between the leather and pigskin is a thin layer of Radio Frequency ID (RFID) blocking material to stop thieves from scanning your wallet in a crowd and stealing your ID off of the credit cards. It happens all the time. Google it.
This is an amazingly well built wallet. My only complaint is that I wish it were 1/2 inch shorter. It is a minor issue when I wear a dress suit. For every day wear in jeans it is great. When I wear a suit I just change wallet.

Jokes aside I thought I'd wait a while to declare here, but after about 5 years this particular wallet has served me well beyond anything I initially expected. Other than kind of bending to my rear end to fit me it's showing absolutely no signs of wearing out and I don't expect it ever will. It did take a little while to stretch out enough to hold all the junk I carry in my wallet, cards and such, but everything fits nicely and I never have to worry about items just falling out while in the checkout at stores. Originally I thought $100 was just too much for a wallet, but in hindsight I'm glad i bought it and I've saved much more than the original price by not losing other items like debit and credit cards like I used to with cheaper wallets.

I had the medium bi-fold wallet from Saddleback and I carry enough cards (credit/business/membership) that it made the wallet too fat for me. The large bi-fold allows you a way to spread out the bulk and it makes for a thinner overall wallet.

I've been using my new wallet for 3 weeks and it has been the perfect wallet for me. I carry about a dozen credit cards and membership cards and my old wallet had overlapping pockets. With that many cards, my wallet was very thick because it was as if all the cards were in one stack. With my new Saddleback, I can put 2 cards in each of the card pockets and the other four inside the hidden pocket, making it much slimmer than what I had before. Now I can sit without feeling a bulky wallet in my rear pants pocket. This is one tough wallet too. I know it will last for many years.
