    A Definite Keeper

I got the dark brown, go-anywhere-in-the-world, Rounded Leather Satchel. While one can convert the Rounded Leather Satchel into a backpack (totally cool), one can easily trek across the courtyards of a university campus as they can trek the back trails in search of some adventure. This leather satchel is exceptionally striking. When I first opened the box from Saddleback and removed the satchel from its plastic bag, I had an instant emotional attachment. The dark brown leather satchel just struck a chord within me that was undeniable (Okay, now I’m counting the eye-rolls). Seriously, there’s something about dark brown, full-grain leather that draws you in. I wasn’t quite drooling, but as I inspected the satchel and the strap, its quality construction impressed me. I expect this Rounded Leather Satchel to go wherever I go, and it will not leave me wanting. When I set the leather satchel down, it remains upright (thank you, designer team). The 4.5 inches of extra room at the bottom of the satchel easily accommodates two 9x7 inch paperback books, an iPad Pro 11” with a keyboard case attached, a small/medium-sized EDC pouch, eyeglass case and other paraphernalia. The leather satchel also sports two outer pouches on both ends. Initially, I thought I could squeeze a water bottle in (I’ve tried it and it is doable, but the pockets are too short and shallow for practical use. Also, if I put books and other stuff in the satchel, it would push the sides of the bag out and it would eliminate any remaining space for a bottle). So, I put small items I need quick access to in the pouch facing front, and stuff a bandana on top of it so they don’t fall out; it also it keeps curious eyes out. Overall, the Rounded Leather Satchel is well-designed. May I suggest sewing a flap over the top of the side pockets and attach a thin leather type shoelace or flat strap on the flap to pull the flap down over a button or attachment point, and attach it to the front of the pockets? This prevents objects from falling out if the satchel is tilted, and there is no need for the bandana. :-) A secured flap also deters others standing or seated next to me from surreptitiously removing any items from the pockets. Perhaps a buckled strap might serve as a better deterrent? Thank you for doing such a great job designing and constructing this leather satchel.

Best Damn Gear Ever for Wo(men)

I now own three Saddleback pieces so I'm going to same mostly the same thing about all over them - they're my favorite gear ever. I'm a woman, and I buy only from the "men's" collection. So personal opinion, would love to see this perhaps labeled adventure or rugged, or whatever.. just not "men's". Just like I think some guys would like the 41 line... I think it would open a whole new demographic. If not, that's ok, I kinda like the exclusivity of it too :P . I first started with the Front Pocket Leather Backpack, since I was traveling all over the world launching operations for a startup in places like Africa, Australia, and SE Asia. I needed something I could throw around a rickshaw, or withstand the elements of the desert or outback while protecting my expensive gear - laptops, drones, navigational equipment, DSLR, and my notebooks. That backpack was ALL that plus looks. Got complimented everywhere, plus I could take it into meetings and still look professional. Next I bought the Rounded Leather Satchel when I moved back to the US and needed more of a low key briefcase type that could hold my Macbook Pro 13". I knew it was a gamble, but unlike the description.. it actually fits mine - just at a slight angle and no case. It's still got the rugged look I love that tells people I have a story, looks great if I take it on a short outdoor adventure (backpack style), or wearing a business suit and heels to go to a meeting. MEN and WOMEN love it. Now, I got the Baby Beast for my bf so he'd have a gymbag/carryon replacement. After I saw my brothers' Baby Beast in action while we traveled Mexico (when all else fails and there's no more room in the truck... USE THE DAMN STRAPS.. and these bags will securely attach anywhere. I promise no end of sierra curves or topes (speedbumps) will knock these bags off). So I had to get one for my bf.. but the truth is.. I'm claiming shared custody on this one. Bottom line, if you like adventure (man or woman), this is the line. Sometimes I travel to remote parts of the world and sometimes I just like going into town with my satchel. Either way, I love knowing that the expensive crap I like to buy can be protected by Saddleback leather and the last thing I want to worry about is the durability of my gear protecting it. And I like looking good doing all that. Now I'm working on my Private Pilot's License... so next on the list is the Flight Bag. The adventure continues.

    It’s Baaack!

Back in the day I bought the large satchel (to use as a briefcase) and the small satchel (to use as a purse) but never the medium. I have kicked myself ever since. Much to my delight Saddleback brought back the medium and I snatched up a tobacco version. I am retired now and the medium is the perfect size for loading up for a nice hike with dog in either cross body or backpack mode. I can use the exterior rings to hang off a collapsible water bowl and the poop bag holder. Add lunch and dog food and I have the perfect adventure bag. Those ring are so handy and exterior pockets are what makes this bag. Thank you for bringing it back!
