Our Full Grain Leather is Key

This wallet was constructed with full-grain leather. Let me explain why that's so important. Leather is like a roof. You have the wood decking and then the shingles. The grain of the leather is the 25% of the top layer of the hide and is the strongest, most resistant to stains and water and has the densest tightly woven leather fibers of the leather. It's like the shingles on the roof. Without the grain, the roof will leak because the wood beneath it will resist, but not for long. The top layer of the leather also has all of the marks of the life of the cow.&&So, the low quality leather wallet companies shave off the scars so they will not have to cut around the scars and therefore save money by using almost every square inch of the hide. But in doing so, they shave off the longest lasting and toughest part that leather is famous for. We WANT as much grain as we can get on our leather wallets, so we cut around the scars and blemishes and throw that leather into the trash.

The Perfect Wallet

I've been hunting for a good wallet for so long. In my searches, I landed on Duluth Trading Company for wallets. I got one of their full-grain leather wallets, and the leather was great, but the liner kept coming out. I got a replacement wallet from them, and the liner got unsewn from that one as well. Very frustrating. One of the awesome things about Saddleback wallets is that there is no liner, there is no plastic, it's just full grain leather, as it should be. I've only had it for a week or so but I'm loving it!

Holding up great

I bought this wallet three and a half years ago because I was sick of cheaper wallets falling apart. It's worn in wonderfully. I was annoyed when I first got it because it was stiff and all of my cards/cash stuck inside. Cards still stick a little bit in pockets that I don't access very often, but it's not really bothersome. The stiffness issue is long gone. I got it in the Tobacco color and over time it's become closer to the Chestnut color offered, which is exactly what I wanted. The inside is still mostly the Tobacco color which makes for a nice two-tone. I've seen others mention cards breaking - I have had that happen with one card that I didn't use often. It took a couple of years and it started with a minor crack. I keep my wallet in my front pocket. Overall, I'm really happy with this wallet.

Exceeds my expectations!

This wallet is build though! I got it as a birthday present about three month ago and I really enjoy this wallet. I purchased the Tobacco wallet. I found it pale at the beginning, however since it gained some patina, I really love the colour. The wallet is made from thick leather pieces. I fits well in my front pocket. It will last me a lifetime!
