Our Full Grain Leather is Key

This wallet was constructed with full-grain leather. Let me explain why that's so important. Leather is like a roof. You have the wood decking and then the shingles. The grain of the leather is the 25% of the top layer of the hide and is the strongest, most resistant to stains and water and has the densest tightly woven leather fibers of the leather. It's like the shingles on the roof. Without the grain, the roof will leak because the wood beneath it will resist, but not for long. The top layer of the leather also has all of the marks of the life of the cow.&&So, the low quality leather wallet companies shave off the scars so they will not have to cut around the scars and therefore save money by using almost every square inch of the hide. But in doing so, they shave off the longest lasting and toughest part that leather is famous for. We WANT as much grain as we can get on our leather wallets, so we cut around the scars and blemishes and throw that leather into the trash.

Rustic, hardy wallet

The tobacco leather smells like a boot store. It's thick for wallet leather and feels substantial and high quality. The edges are not burnished which makes the wallet seem rustic. Workmanship appears to be very good. I'm happy with the purchase and will likely order the black version also.

A bullet proof wallet

I’m really impress with the built quality of this wallet. The leather is superb and the stitching is clean all around. It smelt very good too! I’m confident this wallet will last me a long time. It is slightly thicker than I want it to be but I can get use to it. Overall, a must have for anybody. I will buy from Saddleback again!

best wallet ever

I bought this wallet (dark coffee brown color) nearly 9 years ago. I have used it every day since, every day I've gone out anyway, which is the large majority of days. It was beautiful when it arrived and it looks at least as good now as it has softened and smoothed with use. Every corner and edge is solid and every stitch is intact and tight. I apply a little leather conditioner a couple times a year, but that's the only care it needs. It is wonderfully durable, beautifully crafted, practical, and a pleasure to use. I also appreciate that it is RFID-resistant. Recently I added a set of clear plastic sleeves to allow easy display of ID and a couple photos (the model I have doesn't have a window card slot.) None of the many other wallets I've owned over the years has come close to lasting as long as this one, or looking as good.
