Leather Tow Belt in Kotor, Montenegro
Ordered this belt in the Tobacco color. I accidentally went way too small on my first order. I wear 42w pants, and according to the sizing chart, I thought the 38 would be just right. It was way too small, so I sent it back and ordered a 42. It's the perfect size. I spoke with a rep and she said just to order your pant size and you'll be good. Quality is excellent, very thick and strong. I wear Levi jeans and have no issue fitting it through the loops. I'm excited to know I'll never have to buy another belt again! I had always bought the cheap ones at Walmart, but they always started breaking down eventually. I don't see that ever being an issue here.
I bought two of these belts in 2014 and have worn them constantly since then. I bought a third in August 2016 before the price increase. The lower quality of materials and construction between the 2014 belts and the 2016 belt is noticeable and disappointing. The edges of the belt are unfinished, and the holes were poorly struck. If this is your first Saddleback product, you'll probably love it. It's just not what it used to be.
I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews about fit through belt loops and a few other negatives. After receiving and wearing them I have know idea what the negative reviews were about. It fits wranglers, Levi's and what I call the pajama jeans from old navy better than anything I've had before. The reviews that state I just thought what a belt was before saddleback are 100% accurate. Do not hesitate. Best 100.00 I've spent in a very long time.
This is a solid, well-constructed addition to your wardrobe. No complaints there. The problem is fit: Saddleback customer service said to measure the place where you wear your current favorite belt for a sizing guide for buying one of theirs. That I did, and I was disappointed. The way this belt is constructed, there is an extra layer of leather in the middle (you can tell if you look closely at the sides in the pictures). As a result, the middle actually bulges out. So, when I would pull this belt tight, it actually dug a bit into my side and got uncomfortable very quickly. Loosening it helped but rendered it non-functional as a belt. I measured it next to my old favorite belt, and it turns out there was a 1.5" difference between what was comfortable on my old belt and what was comfortable with this one. I returned it and got the four-stitch belt instead. It fit JUST as described, at the same mark on my old favorite belt. So, just a fair warning to you...be cautious of the fit.
I recently bought the Tow belt in Tobacco and it is perfect. Be sure to follow the measuring instructions and you should be fine. The leather is thick and the pigskin makes pulling the belt off of jeans a piece of cake. Awesome belt and will be buying another one in coffee brown.
