    Over-engineered

There are plenty of belts out there, but nothing else compares to this belt. This belt is so over-engineered that it feels like so much more than just a belt. This belt has 3 layers of full grain leather! The top and center layers, I believe, are chrome leather which gives you the look and feel you expect from SBL, then the bottom layer is vegetable tanned leather. It is more rigid that the other layers and you can feel the difference. Add to the leather an over-engineered stainless steel buckle and this becomes something entirely unique in the leather belt world. If there is a criticism to be made about this belt, I think it would be that you cannot change the buckle, if you want to swap it out at some point. No option for that. The buckle is held on to the belt by its own piece of veg tanned leather and riveted in place. For sizing, SBL says to order your pants size at the waist. I have found that ordering 1 size smaller gets you on the center hole. Ordering your actual size may put you more near to the bottom 2 holes. I ordered my size and I land on 1 hole up from the tightest. At my age I am more likely to shrink than gain any weight, so someday I may need to add a hole, but that's another day down the road. Great belt that will last and look great doing it.

    The Best Belt!

I've had my tow belt for a few years now and the only signs of wear are some minor surface scratches. This thing is STRONG and super thick. I ordered according to the sizing guide and, while the belt fits, I can only use the second or third hole, depending on my weight; I wish I had gone a couple sizes longer. That said, I'd definitely buy this again if I needed another. The only thing I would change is the buckle; there's absolutely nothing wrong with it but I sure wish there was a brass buckle option.

    Tow Belt

I now own four tow belts and have bought several others as gifts and they are by far the best belts I have ever owned. They are thick and heavy but not at all pinchy or uncomfortable. I purchased my first tow belt (in Tobacco) about 12 years ago and still wear it almost every day for every activity. It has held up beautifully, but I recently purchased another in Tobacco to have a nicer-looking option in the lighter color for casual non-work wear. There are a few slightly disconcerting differences with the new belt but it's still excellent. For some reason the new belt, in the same marked size as the first one, is almost two inches longer. Not ideal, but it still fits. The first belt also used Chicago screws to secure the buckle which I prefer to the rivets used on the new one, but this is not a deal breaker either. The finish on the new one is not as refined as the first one either, with the edges on the new one not seeming to be smoothed, sealed or polished like the first one and the cuts themselves seem a bit rougher — but I can't be too critical comparing products from more than a decade apart. Excellent product and highly recommended.

    Almost

Purchased the brown several years ago - always a fan - Dave oversells to the customer who is not like the average customer - the black received was of the color: matte not the even semi-shiny black desired. At the buckle there is a small piece of leather with the true black with a sheen - but the belt is a matte black. Which is strange. Because the true smooth shiny black is desired. Do you understand. Strange. A small area near the buckle is beautiful deep jet black shiny smooth. Yet the the entire belt itself is more less than shiny, matte black. Strange. Not expected. As I purchased the Bull belt years ago which is deep jet black with some sheen.
