This leather wallet was built with what is called full grain leather. The grain is the most durable part of the hide and it's basically like the shingles of a roof. It ages richly and is very water resistant. But most designers or manufacturers are told to save as much money as possible making their wallets and so need to use every inch of the leather hide. Instead of cutting around the scars and blemishes and throwing 25% of the leather into the trash, the tannery shaves off the top layer with all of the scars and slight imperfections so they can use almost 100% of the hide to make leather wallets. Materials
