I am real picky and a quirky perfectionist! I bought this bag at a 25 % discount and the only thing I can see is that possibly the top cover on one side drops less then a quarter inch lower on one side. Which will disappear onece packed. It adds a special personality to the bag. I noticed this after turning the bag around and around up and down. I was SEARCHING for a defect! For $165.00 discount I am exstatic about my purchase.
I had the large briefcase and absolutely love it. It has gained attention in the office and when I make my way through the airports. So I figured that I should have this side duffle to accompany the briefcase. I knew that I would love it before I ordered it and let me tell you that this bag is everything plus. It arrived in excellent condition and packaged in some of the best materials. I thought that I would just be amazed with the duffel but heck the packaging was excellent as well. I am looking forward to making my way into the show room and purchasing a third piece. These products are hand down some of the best out there. Thank you for making such great products (I guess I will have to just put them into my will to keep the fighting down once I pass)
I have been a huge Saddleback fan for a number of years and probably have six or seven pieces. Then there was that one flight... where they made me check it. I folded down all the straps, put the shoulder strap in the bag, and crossed my fingers. I got where I was going and the bag had caught on something and was in pretty bad shape. One or two D rings had been ripped right off. There were burn marks on the bag where it got caught on the conveyor belt. My heart dropped. I called Saddleback and they told me, well, actually, they don't repair their products. They referred me to a third-party – I sent the other company an email, with links to lots of pictures. No joy. Darn. To be clear, I wasn't expecting the bag to be repaired and made new. After all, some of those dings and burn marks could be all about character - how many of us get through life without a few bumps and bruises? What was most disappointing is that it was a "yeah, that's too far gone to be fixed!" Bummer.
Wow. Just wow. I'm actually a bit lost for words. This is the bag I didn't know I have waited for all my life. Gorgeous! I'm almost 6.3 so the bag could have been a tiny bit larger, but the things that doesn't fit will go in my medium Front Pocket Briefcase. The tobacco leather is creamy, supple and the color is exactly as the pictures on the website. Fantastic. I was pretty pleased with my FPBC in tobacco, but thought it was a little dark. Guess I was right, they don't even look related colorwise - and the leather on that one is also stiffer than the duffle.
Bought one in chestnut as a Christmas gift for my wife. Absolutely beautiful. Being stationed overseas, we travel through Europe a lot and are constantly getting inquisitive looks wherever we go. I initially thought it's because we look like interesting people, but nope, it's the bag. One French woman asked if she could touch it, then asked where I purchased it. She wasn't quite understanding me so I wrote "saddlebackleather.com" on a piece of paper. She then proceeded to caress it and talk in French to her spouse. I don't parle French, but I think I know what he'll be getting her next year. Conversation starter! I will say that it can be on the heavier side. Sometimes I find myself carrying my wife's bag for her if we have a longer walk. I don't mind 'cause the bag just looks so darn good...oh, and chivalry, too. That stuff's awesome. I only wish they made a slightly larger version of the same design for those who want to pack a bit more. Highly recommend. Quality is second to none.
