Leather Bifold Wallets - Three Sizes Explained from Saddleback Leather

What People Think

5

The Best.

I purchased this wallet to replace a Docker's wallet I had received for Christmas when I was 8 years old. Surprisingly, that wallet lasted me a hair over 20 years. Granted, stitching was gone in several spots and worn through so I was definitely trying to get by with something that was on its death bed. Enter the Saddleback Medium Bifold. I had purchased this wallet to replace my beloved Docker's wallet and it lasted me a year, however, I had the unfortunate experience of having a card break due to the wear pattern. I contacted customer support about the issue, sent pictures, and that day I had a new wallet on its way; free of charge and warrantied. That replacement wallet has not given me any problems and all my cards are intact. For some that might be a reason to detract stars from the rating but Saddleback's customer service is top-notch and they make things right. Given the quality and customer service, this is a 5 Star product. I don't think I'll ever have to buy another wallet again but if I do, then it will surely be a Saddleback.

Wallet

I have had this one for 5-6 years at least and it has held up extremely well. The exterior has a great patina. The interior is getting nicely worn, too. All the cards stay firmly in place. The stitching is in great shape. I truly enjoy having this wallet and I like that I can keep it for another 10 years and believe that it will be in just as good shape then as now.

This medium-sized leather bifold wallet is just the right size for carrying all of your cards and cash. It has plenty of room for everything you need, and its slim design makes it easy to carry in your pocket. The leather is actually full-grain, and the stitching is top-notch. This wallet will age beautifully, and it's built to last. If you're looking for a high-quality leather wallet that will last you for the rest of your life and pass it down to the next generation, this is the one for you. Now let me tell you why this leather wallet is better than other mens bifold wallets to make shopping for your new wallet that much easier.

There is no one perfect wallet, as everyone has different needs. Some people may prefer a bifold wallet for its storage capacity, while others may prefer a front pocket wallet for its minimalist design.

Our Full Grain Leather is the Key

This wallet was constructed with full-grain leather. Let me explain why that's so important. Leather is like a roof. You have the wood decking and then the shingles. The grain of the leather is the 25% of the top layer of the hide and is the strongest, most resistant to stains and water and has the densest tightly woven leather fibers of the leather. It's like the shingles on the roof. Without the grain, the roof will leak because the wood beneath it will resist, but not for long. The top layer of the leather also has all of the marks of the life of the cow.

So, the low quality leather wallet companies shave off the scars so they will not have to cut around the scars and therefore save money by using almost every square inch of the hide. But in doing so, they shave off the longest lasting and toughest part that leather is famous for. We WANT as much grain as we can get on our leather wallets, so we cut around the scars and blemishes and throw that leather into the trash.

An Extra Strong Full Grain Leather Wallet

Then, if our exceptional leather isn't enough, we use almost twice the thickness of what most other wallet manufacturers do. This makes a tougher leather wallet. Finally, if that isn't enough, instead of using glossy nylon to line the insides of our wallets, we utilize pig leather, which is tougher than cowhide. This gives it that much extra durability in our leather wallet. It's how we can give a 100-Year Warranty on a wallet.

Leather Bifold Wallet Sewn with Strength

Furthermore, even rocks wear away over time; that's why we sew all our high-quality leather together with an equally tough and durable marine-grade polyester continuous filament German thread. In fact, this is the same type of thread used to create parachutes and ship sails because it can be depended on when lives are at stake.

Leather Wallets with RFID Security Built In

Yes, this is an RFID blocking wallet. There's a thin layer of Radio Frequency ID blocking materials between the leather and pigskin to keep a robber from scanning your wallet. Even from feet away, in a crowd, these crooks can be stealing your identity off your credit cards. It happens all the time, but it isn't discussed publicly. Take a look at it. That is why we feel it is essential to have an RFID blocking layer, no matter if the full grain leather wallet is in your front or back pocket. This feature should be standard when you are shopping for any new wallet.

Curved Card Slots

I designed these wallets with a curved slot for two reasons.

  1. 1. To have more surface area to grab your cards. There is nothing fun about needing to grab your debit card and having to fight with your bifold wallet to grab one out.

  2. 2. Credit cards breaking and cracking in wallets that people sit on daily is very common across all wallet brands. If you don't have much going on in life, you can google that too. This curve takes the pressure off of a direct line on the cards and distributes it, so they don't crack after a few years.

The four slots, ID window, and cash pocket are perfectly designed to store your money and cards. More than a cash holder, and more than a card holder, it is a classic sign of style and class.

Should I Get a Bifold Wallet or a Front Pocket Wallet

Front Pocket Wallets are getting very popular, as these minimalist wallets are convenient. I know many people who have switched to front pocket carry, but they all still have a traditional bifold leather wallet for when they need to carry more than what will fit in a front pocket wallet.

I'll take a front pocket wallet over money clips any day, but that's just me. I at least need it to be able to have a card holder for my credit or debit card along with my ID. That is where a front pocket wallet comes in By the way, we also make the best slim wallet. But when you need to carry more than five or six cards, a few bills of cash, and your ID, then a bifold leather wallet is the way to go. A guy can carry a classic wallet like this everyday and even have room to carry his receipts for all the jewelry and leather accessories he buys his wife.

Minimalist Design for our Mens Bifold Wallets

This is a minimalist wallet. I stripped away everything that wasn't needed to create a simple, effective, and good-looking leather wallet. It has the needed four card slots, easy access, and an ID window. The cash pocket can carry plenty of cash, and if you carry a lot of cash, it can handle it. In fact, the leather will naturally lightly stretch based on your personality and how you use the bifold wallet.

Is it a bifold or a billfold?

The terms "Bifold" and "Billfold" are used interchangeably. I personally like the term bifold better, but some people feel that a billfold is more sophisticated since it has the word "bill" in it. I don't really care what you call it, as long as you enjoy using it for many years to come.

A Leather Bifold makes a Great Gift

When trying to find the best gift for a man, a Leather Bifold that will last 100 years is the way to go. Sure, you can shop for a cheap $20 Velcro or cheap leather wallet with 100 card slots and a zippered coin pouch. It might even have a pocket for his manhood and come in eight different colors at the department store, but will it last? Will it make him feel appreciated? Will it match his style? I think not.

When considering the price, you save in the long run by not having to replace it. When you give him a leather bifold that he will use for the rest of his life, he will think of you every time he reaches for it. That is the power of a great gift. It's more than just a place to keep your money. These bifold wallets will be fought over when he's gone. Take that into account when you shop for something that he won't be embarrassed to pull out.

Our Bifold Wallets Come in Different Colors

You can get a black bifold wallet if that is your style, as it is for many professionals and bikers. Me, I personally prefer brown wallets. In brown, we have three different shades. Chestnut, Dark Coffee Brown, and Tobacco Brown Leather which is the typical choice for the more laid-back gentleman.

The Benefits of a Leather Bifold Wallet Over a Trifold Wallet

First, there is a time and a place for a trifold wallet, but a leather bifold wallet is better for most people:

  1. It's simpler and faster to access your cards and cash.

  2. A bifold usually doesn't have as much bulk, so it fits nicely in your pocket.

  3. If you carry a lot of cards and cash, it's easier to organize them in a bifold because of all the compartments.

  4. A bifold wallet will lay flatter, so they are less likely to give you a lump in your pocket.

  5. The stitching on a bifold is usually stronger because there is less of it.

I could go on forever about this incredible medium bifold leather wallet, but I'll end it here for now. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to us. We would love to hear from you!

A cool trick for when you get pulled over by a corrupt cop in Mexico

I've been pulled over a million times in Mexico, and I deserved to be pulled over for about 600,000 of them. But strangely, I hadn't been pulled over for about five years until just last December. And I didn't deserve it either. So the cop comes up to the window and, of course, I started talking to him in perfect English to not let him know that I speak perfect Spanish. I just kept smiling and wasting his time by repeating the same words over and over again to frustrate him. Didn't work. Guy had the patience of Job. So I threw out my next trick and the next trick and the next trick that usually gets me free. But to no avail. His hand gestures made it super obvious that he wanted to see my driver's license and so I got my wallet and gave him ONE of them. You see, for times like this, when all else has failed, I keep two licenses in my wallet. My current one and my old expired one. So I pulled the expired one out of my wallet and gave it to him. He walked away looking at it and all of a sudden he turned around and walked muy rapido to my window and said that my license was expired. You see, the way it works is, they take your driver's license away, and when you pay your fine down at the police station, they give you back your license unless... you pay the fine right there on the spot in cash. I figured he could have my worthless driver's license, and all would be great, and I would go on my way. He kept offering for me to give him cash so we could both go our separate ways. The way it ended was that since I never pay bribes, he took off one of my license plates, and I had to get it down at the police station after paying the $5. I sent a special friend of mine to get it, and he got the cop in a whole bunch of trouble and probably fired. So, that's why you should keep your expired license with you in your wallet while traveling.

    Great quality beautiful wallet
I bought it in chestnut and it's beautiful. You can tell the leather and stitching are high quality and should live up to the 100 year warranty. Cards fit very snugly and won't go anywhere. That being said, it is bulky, it was actually thicker than I expected by looking at the pictures which is why I'm deducting one star. If you're looking for a smaller wallet you should look for the front pocket one as this one can take quite some real state in your pocket.

    High quality
Looks to be a really high quality leather wallet that will last a lifetime. I do appreciate the 100 year warranty as well. Only giving it 4 stars because the wallet is very bulky which might be necessary in order to make it last that long. I put 6 cards in there and it’s just way too thick for my liking. Other than that it is a beautiful wallet that’s seems to be well made.
