Hi, this is Cross Munson, Dad's son. I was born in 2009, but when I was 9 years old I designed this lightweight leather backpack because Dad's backpacks and satchels were too heavy for me. A couple of years ago, I asked Dad if I could design a backpack that was lightweight and he said that I could if I made it strong and with no breakable parts. So I designed this lightweight leather backpack a lot like my old favorite canvas backpack that I carried all over the place. I made the shoulder straps wide and kind of padded so they would be comfortable. I made it with d-rings to close the pockets and a drawstring to close the backpack. I just added a cool new feature to this leather backpack so you can roll it up to throw in another bag when you're traveling. When you get to wherever you're going, leave the heavier bag in the room and pull out this lightweight travel backpack when you're walking around the town. It's a really cool backpack and you should buy one.
---Once upon a time there was a young girl who was beautiful. So beautiful was the girl that the king wanted to give her father money for her. Her father was a poor miller and needed the money, so he lied to the king that his daughter could spin wheat into gold, to get extra money. So the king paid a lot of money and took the girl. Soon he told her that he would lock her in the wheat room and would not let her out until she spun all of it into gold. The girl tried to tell the king she could not do it but the king told her to do it anyways.&&She cried and cried and cried until a curious talking pig, named Rumplepigskin, waddled up to her and said, "I will spin that wheat into gold if you steal me some and let me eat it." The girl was very amazed at this ugly waddling talking pig and she told him she would. So that night she slept and when she woke up it was all gold! The king checked up on her and was amazed. He said, "If you can spin wheat into gold then turn this large chunk of copper into diamonds."&&She became worried that the weird waddling pig would not be able to do that, but again she cried and cried and cried until Rumplpigskin showed up. He said,'' I will turn this into diamonds if you give me your firstborn son's name." So she agreed that she would do that and then Rumplpigskin farted on the copper and it turned into diamond. The next morning, the king came in and was super surprised that she did that and made her his wife. Next year they had a baby boy.&&The young queen forgot about her deal and went on a walk. She somehow felt drawn to the pigs so she went there and soon she was face to face with Rumplpigskin. He was very mad about his deal and said, "You have tricked me so I will kill your son!" Good thing the queen always carried her trusty knife with her and knew how to skin a pig. So she killed Rumplpigskin and they all ate really really good bacon in the royal hall and got a made a really nice lightweight leather backpack and Hog Sacks out of his skin.
The color is perfect, the leather is thick, and it holds everything I want to carry. It is expensive and when you actually see and touch it...you’ll know why. No buyers remorse here. I’m going to have to get 2 more before I die because like the slogan says my kids WILL fight over this.

Love the lightweight, more feminine feel of this piece. And the 10 year warranty is definitely a plus as I load it up daily with books and supplies for teaching school.

I should start this off with the fact that we love and have bought many saddleback products. I also love this burnt sausage color. I had ordered the medium version of this backpack (I was hoping to make it my new hiking bag, since the surplus military bag my husband had gotten me was just too heavy, despite its small size), but was sent the large. This wasn't a big enough issue for me to bother putting in the effort to return it, but the large backpack is definitely too big for hiking. It's a good size for carrying my work laptop and saddleback portfolio, so I'veused it as a work backpack the few times I've gone into the office. I'm definitely impressed with just how lightweight this bag really is and how much room it has. I admit that its light weight makes it feel less durable (like it wouldn't hold up to the task of being a kid's backpack for a whole normal school year), but that might be an unfair assessment. Maybe if the stitching were more similar to saddleback products, it would seem more substantial, even with how wonderfully light it is.... I definitely don't want to discourage the exploration and production of lighter weight products - I LOVE our waterbag, but if we take it on a trip, my husband is the only one who can wield it, so these bags are a step in the right direction to me.
