Read MoreThis leather wallet was built with what is called full grain leather. The grain is the most durable part of the hide and it's basically like the shingles of a roof. It ages richly and is very water resistant. But most designers or manufacturers are told to save as much money as possible making their wallets and so need to use every inch of the leather hide. Instead of cutting around the scars and blemishes and throwing 25% of the leather into the trash, the tannery shaves off the top layer with all of the scars and slight imperfections so they can use almost 100% of the hide to make leather wallets. The problem is that they shave off the shingles of your house; the toughest part of the hide. And that's why you're looking for the best leather wallet now. They become junk and fall apart in a short time (5 - 10 years).
---As if our leather wasn't enough, we line our wallets with pigskin, which is tougher than the cow leather. It's how we can offer a 100-year Warranty. And then we sew it with our special German marine grade polyester thread. It's what they sew parachutes and ship sails with. If a life depends on the seams not falling apart, they use the same thread. In between the leather and pigskin is a thin layer of Radio Frequency ID (RFID) blocking material to stop thieves from scanning your wallet in a crowd and stealing your ID off of the credit cards. It happens all the time. Google it.
I owned a wallet from one of the "rivals" and had it for around 25 years. I was very pleased with it and when the stitching came apart a while back, I wasn't too disappointed because it lasted a long time. When I went to the rival's website to order a new wallet, I wasn't particularly happy with their latest styles and I got the impression from a few reviews their quality might not be as good as it once was. So I searched the Internet and initially found nothing better than what was offered at the rival's site. Thankfully, I eventually found Saddleback Leather and liked the appearance of their wallets. Then the 100-year guarantee caught my attention and I was hooked. The more I read about the quality actually made me yearn to have one in my hands right away! I ordered the Medium Bi-Fold Wallet based on the listing stating it holds 18 credit-type cards, which amounts to 3 cards per slot, since there are 6 slots. When I received the wallet in just a few days, my joy was saddened when I could only squeeze 2 cards in each slot, and even that was a tight fit. However, I really like the quality, so I immediately ordered the Large and contacted Saddleback about returning the Medium. I received a pleasant response from Liz in less than an hour with instructions on how to return the medium for a refund - with their phone number, front and center, in case I needed to call. Then, less than a half hour after that I received a message from Hannah who mentioned that when I get the Large Bi-Fold, it helps to put just one card in each slot, then add a card each day, which gives the leather a chance to stretch a bit. I used that technique a few days later when I received my Large Bi- Fold and that made a lot of difference. The Large still fits easily in my back pocket (I have a 36 inch waist) and I totally love the handsome style and quality of this finely crafted wallet.

I started out with medium size bifold that ate credit cards like a DR Rapid-Feed Wood Chipper. Sure, it saved me the hassle of cutting up a few of them, but it was rubbing off the photo on my driver's license and ordering new cards was a lot more hassle than dealing with the friendly folks at Saddleback. Even so, I was prepared to deal with these inconveniences knowing the wallet would likely outlive the financial institutions that issued the cards. When I recently called customer service, it was to learn if there were any plans to offer a belt pouch that would fit my cell phone. Unfortunately, the larger of the current pouches is too small for my larger than i-phone. Given that many of us bolster these delicate devices with padded exoskeletons, a larger pouch would be welcome. I was told that no larger pouch is currently in the works but in the course of the conversation, the rep asked how I liked my wallet. I said I liked it just fine but my credit cards were less enthusiastic. I was then prompted to exchange it for a new medium bifold with redesigned card slots. The replacement seemed like an improvement but immediately cracked my abraded driver's license. Another call to customer service and the large bifold was offered in exchange. Well, this seems to be the perfect fix. Nice snug fit in my jeans back pocket and less bulge. The larger size keeps the cards flat and less likely to flex and it just feels right in the hand. Currency fits more easily too and there is room for receipts and the like. Maybe not the first choice for the front pocket of guys into 60s stovepipe trousers, but for me this one is a keeper. Saddleback customer service is absolutely first rate and you are dealing with people who want to keep you as a customer. In a time when so many things we own are obsolete before we unbox them, this is one possession that will endure.

After many years, different wallets, money clips and styles, I began the search for the products that I would bequeath to sons. By sheer luck, I stumbled upon Saddleback. I decided to start small - with a wallet. I purchased the large bifold and it is perfect, far superior to my coach medium bifold id wallet. the coach lasted 5 years before it needed retirement. I expect a lifetime out of the Saddleback. it is superior in every way, from the quality of the leather, to the color, to the manufacturing. It is larger than a normal wallet, but I knew that, and it fits my frame. In sum, this was the perfect place to start as I'm hooked on Saddleback.

Excellent wallet, I received it a week ago. It has soffened up a tiny bit. I have the chestnut color, and it is a nice color. I have 3 cards in each slot, and about 8 bills (fits dozens of bills) and it has stayed very slim. In some pants it's a little hard to squeeze it out of the pocket. In jeans it's no problem. I wear 514's in 32-30 and the wallet sticks out less than 1/2 of an inch. It's a great wallet and I highly recomed it. Saddleback has great quality wallets, and even better customer service, Jodie and Tim are my favorite :)

Waited for what seemed like a lifetime to order a large bifold in Dark chocolate brown. Finally got my mitts on it today and it's just as great as I thought it would be, along with everyone else I've talked to or reviews I've read. The quality is outstanding. You can just feel it right out of the package. I can't stop smelling the darn thing. I'm a big guy with giant hands so the large bifold is perfect for me. Holds all my cards securely and with the built in RFID protection, it's a no brainer. Plus, a portion goes to we'll deserved charities! Simply put, I'm looking forward to having a long relationship with my wallet, as a person that goes through "high end" wallets at a silly pace. Oh, and the customer service is just amazing. Be it on Twitter, chat, phone or email, they are all fantastic.
