A leather passport holder, such as our Slim Passport Wallet, is a great way to keep all of your important documents organized and together while you travel. If you have your regular wallet, plus a boarding pass, plus a vaccination card that may or may not fit in your regular leather wallet, you have a lot to remember. With a passport holder, you can organize everything in one place.&&Plus, it just looks nicer. Many people think a passport holder is only for people who travel a lot, but that's not true. If you are carrying your passport with you, why not do it in class? Plus, when you pull your boarding pass out of this, you will surely get bumped up to first class.
---When you trust something as important as a passport holder, you do not want the maker to go cheap. You can go to the mall all day and get a cheap personalized passport cover, but it is just that, cheap passport covers. We design this to keep your belongings safe in other countries. With a passport pocket, internal card slots, and RFID blocking technology, you can get to your hotel safe and sound with your travel documents and cash. We do this with everything we make, so it makes sense that we would make something so important.&&
---This leather passport wallet was constructed with full-grain leather. All leather has grain, tough fibers, and pores in the top part of the hide. Most companies pay less for the leather that has had a lot of the grain shaved off to get rid of scars and blemishes of the leather, but in doing so, they shave off the grain, which is the toughest part of the hide and what makes a leather passport wallet so durable, get a nice patina and be super water-resistant. It's like the shaved off the shingles from your roof. When they remove some of the grain, it's called top grain leather. When they remove ALL of the grain, it's called genuine leather. And they do it to save leather while taking away the strength of the wallet and durability of the leather. Leather is expensive, and they don't want to waste any of it because of a scar or bug bite. It's why this full grain leather passport wallet is more expensive than some cheap passport case.
---We line this leather passport wallet with pigskin, which is tougher than the cow leather. It's why we feel comfortable offering a 100-year Warranty.
---We sewed it with our really strong German marine-grade polyester thread. It's the only thread they sew parachutes and ship sails with. So if your life depends on it, use Polyester thread.
---And for extra security, we put a thin layer of RFID (Radio Frequency ID) blocking material between the pigs and the cow. This is to stop low life scumbag thieves from scanning your leather passport wallet in a crowd and stealing your identification from the cards in your passport wallet. The RFID chip on the front of the passport itself is harder to scan because it's a different frequency. So keep your data safe with this RFID blocking technology; these are travel essentials.
---The reason customs agents and cashiers will compliment you on your leather passport wallet is that the full-grain leather ages so nicely. I designed it to stay slim and flat when it's stuffed full by putting only two even credit card pockets to stack your cards, business cards on one side and personal cards on the other. Because you stack them, there aren't layers of leather adding thickness between each card. And it stays flat in the two interior pockets. The size is wide enough to fit a couple of passports comfortably, and yellow cards or uncomfortably fit four passports, but only two securely. It seems simple, but it is a very well thought out leather passport wallet.
---You are taking a trip out of the country, you might even do this all the time, but most people don't. Either way, you have the best travel gear, luggage, bag, money, passports, boarding pass, and other important documents. You review your flight, hotel, and everything you can to make your next trip the best it can be. You do not want to trust that the trip will not get ruined by a low-quality passport case with a snap closure that just broke and dumped your documents. It will not happen at a convenient place, and you show up at your hotel with nothing. Our passport wallet is exactly what you need for quality and extra security. Oh, and it smells great and will always work correctly, for at least 100 years anyway.
I wrote a more detailed review, but wanted to make a note about the leather quality, to address one of the earlier reviews. The leather on mine (coffee) is very thick and smooth -- it's just as nice and just as thick as the leather on my satchel and other SB stuff. I would suppose leather has natural differences in texture, but I don't see any sign that they are skimping with this product -- it's wonderful leather.

I use this as my full-time wallet, whether or not I'm carrying my passport. It has a great size, slim and not too heavy. It won't hold a billion cards, but I wanted to pare things down a little anyway. It does just fine with a reasonable number -- 8-10 credit-type cards, plus a few business cards tucked in. The outside pocket is great for receipts. It will hold 2-3 passports easily -- you could add more, but it would take a bit of time for the leather to stretch so they'd fit comfortably. I use it for my passport and my son's -- my husband wanted his own wallet. :) I put blank 3x5 cards in that section when I'm not carrying my passport. I can also fit a Midori "passport"-sized notebook (the refill that goes into the Midori Traveler's Notebook) in there very neatly. There's no pen loop, though, and there's not a good way to attach one that I can see. I love that you can get any kind of currency into the bill area. I travel enough internationally that I like not having to have a separate wallet when I go overseas. Doesn't hold coins (I got a SB coin purse too, and mighty nice it is). For currencies with high-value coins (EU, Canada, etc.) that might be a downside. One oddity -- I got the coffee because I wanted the lighter pigskin lining, I thought that would look cool. (Kind of a "black and tan" thing going.) But this wallet doesn't seem to have any pigskin -- at least, there's no lighter colored anything on the wallet. So maybe I got old stock, or maybe the design just doesn't have pigskin. It's awesome either way and I'm happy with the coffee color, it's very classic. It's bulletproof, of course, and I like the RFID shield, esp. as I have a Global Entry card. It will last forever, of course. It's beautiful, of course.

I ordered two wallets and a belt back in 2012 and loved the quality of the product and especially the Dark Coffee Brown leather. Just received this passport wallet as a gift after talking about how much I liked the Saddleback products I already own. I'd love to say I love this product as much as the others I own, but the leather quality is different. The previous products had leather that felt thicker and was smooth. The leather on this feels thinner and has the feel and texture of a vinyl checkbook cover. The pigskin interior is also different, only one side contains pigskin, the other side is raw leather and is of lower quality than my other products. The stitching is the same high quality with no defects, but due to the lower grade of the leather, it doesn't have the same quality feel as the other Saddleback products I own. The picture shows the previous leather version used in the other products I have, but I don't feel it accurately represents the leather in the current version I received.

I love Saddleback. I love the company culture and they definitely know how to build brand loyalty. But here's the thing- I bought three passport wallets (one for me, two as gifts) last year and they were tough, stylish and robust. Then I bought another one a month ago for another overseas trip and it wasn't nearly as thick or solid-feeling. The stitching was good, the design was the same, but the actual leather seems thinner and more synthetic-feeling. Not sure why it changed over the past year, but I'm definitely a little less enthusiastic to place my order for the Classic Briefcase if it's not going to be as awesome as the circa 2012 Messenger Bag I've been carrying thus far. I own multiple ipad, iphone, and other goodies from SBL and I hope my latest purchase is a fluke. It wasn't a Dave's Deal or anything.

We are a family of 4 and travel abroad quite extensively. This wallet serves our purpose extremely well. It carries 4 passports, one small USB thumb drive, couple of SD cards, currency bills, a few blank checks, assortment of business cards, credit cards, a pen, small memo pad and boarding passes/travel documents (thanks to the two external pockets). Despite all these items, the wallet folds well and doesn't crimp the passport edges. I have been using this for about 18 months and the pockets are still tight and snug and the leather looks, feels and smells great. It is good to have something compact and versatile. I own several SB products and have yet to be disappointed with the quality and durability.
